My namesake was still pretty good, though. I love watching the old games and seeing the skate blade save. Now that takes skill on a hard drive to the far post!

There are only a handful of players who have ever played the game that could be compared to Wayne Gretzky. It may be too early to tell, but for the moment Ryan Nuget-Hopkins is NOT one of them.

Embattled New Jersey Devils owner Jeffrey Vanderbeek has finalized a deal with the team’s lenders that will keep him in control of the franchise for at least two years, The Post has learned.

The deal, hammered out in the last few days, was able to be reached only after the NHL agreed to convert its multi-million dollar advance on licensing income into a secured loan and to put off repayment for 24 months, or longer, the source added.

Vanderbeek is now paying lenders other than the NHL roughly $40 million to retire some of its overdue loans and is combining the team and arena debt into one new $160 million package, sources said.

The owner, a former Wall Street executive, is putting up much, perhaps almost half, of the $40 million.

I've slowly been watching the SC winning game in 74 when I get free moments. He has a few jaw dropping plays. Gilbert isn't shabby in that game, either. Also, I'm in the 3rd period and I'm pretty sure Orr has played about 45 minutes so far.

The game was pretty different back in the 70s. I love watching the old footage, and hearing the names of icons in the thick of the play-by-play.

Man, I'm old.

I think we are getting as carried away in our criticism of that poster as they were in their praise of RNH. We (Flyers and Oilers fans alike) know he isn't as good as Gretzky. He was simply saying that he is a play maker in Gretzky's mold, if not his class. Let's all relax, we know what he meant.

I'd wish he'd wear the Philly history mask again, but I guess he considers it bad luck.

Man, I'm old.
I loved the 2 1/2 minute shifts Esposito used to play. Now, if you stay out past 60 secs, you get benched.

Procedural to go back on LTIR?

I've been watching the 2010 historical series against the Broons; I taped games 4-7. Pronger averaged 29 minutes a game. It was a sad reminder of the pillar this team lost.

Homer today said Pronger is "the same" and still experiencing headaches. He will be at the Skate Zone in a couple weeks. #Flyers

Pronger will not skate in Voorhees when he arrives, Homer said, adding the Dman will go through some physical tests. #Flyers

Homer also said Pronger is still constantly getting headaches. Can see hin at all returning. Like BP said, sounds like a LTIR thing.

Yeah he was a horse until the Chicago series when he was worn down with a bum knee...he was still pretty good but clearly not the same as the 1st three rounds.
