Niklas Jensen?

Not sure how fair the value would be, but if Loktionov could play 2C this season as insurance over Schroeder while Kesler's out, it may be worth it for us to do.

I actually like the Loktionov for Glennie proposal. I know Loktionov is a solid prospect, but he seems to be stuck in the minors for the foreseeable future thanks to LA's center depth. Kopitar, Richards, Carter, and Stoll have the top 3 C slots occupied (Carter is even playing wing), and Loktionov is suited more to a top-9 role than a 4th line position. With Gagne coming off the books next off-season, Glennie could fill that vacant wing slot.

I have a higher opinion of Loktionov than most people. I think he's still a couple of years away but by the time he's 24-25 and gained some strenght, there's no reason he's not an NHL regular and definitely has 2nd line upside. He's a VERY cerebral player as well and a good attitude. I really wanna keep him but I think what's best for him is to go to another team that isn't as deep at the C position.

Forbort
Toffoli
Lokti

in that order, although most Kings fans have Toffoli #1.

No he wouldn't.
I'd only make this trade assuming realignment was a go within the next 2-3 years before either make a big impact.

Glennie was a bad pick, yea, but that doesn't mean he isn't gonna be an NHL player. He's definitely still got top 6 potential as a playmaking winger who can score himself, and he can play center even though he's a natural winger. He's also NHL ready, but won't make the Stars this year with our pressing need to make the playoffs. Not that he's not good enough to play, but we've got better options.

This describes Glennie to a T as well. 8th overall pick, not proven, skilled and a natural winger.

Yea, we don't really need another center prospect unless he's NHL ready, which Lokti is. I'm liking Benn, Roy, Lokti, and Eakin down the middle. And he also makes the possibility of losing Roy to UFA next season a bit easier to swallow (I think we'll retain him, but who knows?).

I'd be okay adding a 3rd or 4th, too.

Yes please, I think Lokti would thrive in Detroit with Datsyuk to mentor him

Jensen would be a great pick up for the Kings, he'd fit timeframe wise for our team (we don't need immediate help and he'd be ready in a few years) when players like Gagne move on. However I don't know if Lokti could handle the spotlight in Vancouver.

Some solid proposals.

I'm not sure if going for Loktionov would constitute "giving up" on Calvert.

That said, Calvert has a ready-made position for him on the roster IMO ("anywhere you'd otherwise play Gillies" ), and I don't think Loktionov does - especially considering the "he can't play wing" comments.

No he wouldn't.

Sens are my #2 team. I love Kaspars but not for Andrei.

No. Loktionov has much, much better offense than Kaspars. The problem is Lokti has never been given a chance in a role where he will thrive. He can't play wing and he's not really the most ideal bottom 6 center. Kid has hands and great vision and is very good defensively. His only problem right now is he is VERY weak. Oscar Moller could knock him off the puck

I like Ashton and he's a tough player but we're really ideally looking for a guy with more offensive upside like....

This guy. It'd probably take a bit for the Kings to add since Connolly was a first round pick but Connolly is the ideal guy we'd need in return for Lokti. Not proven but skilled and is a natural winger.

EDIT:

Wouldn't mind this so much as both have proved inconsistent/weak at the NHL level but have potential. Both are offensive guys and Tedenby actually plays wing. And I'd say their values are probably close. Good offer IMO.
Lower your expectations by a lot. Like by half.

I'm high on him for a reason. He's got loads of potential and one of our only true offensive threats in a prospect. But I know what he is - weak and unproven. Notice I said we'd have to add to Connolly. Yeah he was a 5th rounder but Slava Voynov was a 2nd rounder in the same year when the whole Russian scare did push both back later than they could have potentially gone otherwise. But c'mon lets be real. Size isn't as huge in the NHL. Guys like Nathan Gerbe can crack it in this league. Height isn't holding Lokti back - muscle is. He definitely isn't ready physically for the NHL but that's something that a good offseason of training can really help at. He does have the potential to be a 2nd line center and had we not traded for Mike Richards, I expected him to win that job over Brayden Schenn. But then Richards was brought in and we still had Stoll. Lokti got called up and sent down a bunch, had some injuries, but even in a limited NHL role, he showed flashes of that potential.
So basically, you didn't read my post. I said he needed to bulk up because of his size. Gerbe is small, but he's a strong small. Loktionov doesn't seem strong at all, at what, 22yrs old? He still seems as though he hasn't physically matured yet. At 22, that's kind of concerning.

But hey, keep holding out hope. I am with Tangradi.

I could see the Loktionov-for-Jensen trade as a great fit if a) Schroeder can't handle the feat and b) Jensen doesn't absolutely erupt in the AHL in the beginning of the season. One of those ones where you would need ten or so games to evaluate what the team needs really are.

Something like that shouldn't be considered until Bonino and Holland get their chances. By then Palmieri should have added more value. Shipping KP off right now would be selling low.

Jensen will be playing in Sweden this year, unless he absolutely dazzles during training camp and makes the Canucks roster. I am a bit higher on Jensen than on Loktionov, but it is a possibility that I could see happening.
