Rumor has it Orton is going to be Special Referee at Night of Champions in an ADR/Sheamus match.
I'd book it like:
Randy Orton reluctantly counts 3 for Del Rio who becomes new World Heavyweight Champion through cheap tactics that happened behind Orton's back. Randy Orton walks away. Sheamus gets taunted by Ricardo and Sheamus chases Ricardo to the backstage area, Del Rio is still down, Ziggler cashes in, hits Del Rio with the Zig Zag and picks up the win and becomes new World Heavyweight Champion.
Orton goes off to film 12 Rounds, Sheamus/Ziggler/ADR program and when Orton returns, Sheamus/Orton get into a slow build for WrestleMania (if they don't put Barrett/Sheamus in a program.)
I would be standing at full attention if Ziggler cashes in on a cheap winning Del Rio.

And what the hell kind of debut is that anyway? Congrats to the writing team for making some solid return promos, only to kill any interest he may have received by putting him in a match with Yoshi Tatsu. No disrespect to Tatsu, but Barrett should be involved with a much more important storyline.

Yea a bad return for Barrett, and if they have to give him a guy like Yoshi Tatsu, he at least should have went through him instantly hitting his new finisher less than a minute into the match, followed by a half decent promo. Not a big fan of his new finisher, all in all was disappointed by his return, but it's nice to have him back.
It's also looking like the PTP will be winning the Tag Team titles at Night of Champions, but maybe that's just me.

Come on, it only took a minute and a half and most of that was just Barrett posturing. I think the only offense Tatsu got in was a kick.

The dead crowd, the fact that like you said Barret was just posturing, made the match seem so much longer than it was, just made it seem terrible. It would have made more sense than something not involving Tatsu, but if your going to use Tatsu to job, it would have been better for Barrett to run right through him, or hit him with a whole barrage of moves including The Wasteland. I defiantly like Barrett, but I'm not going to pretend they did a good job with his return, it was IMO executed as poorly as possible without hurting him significantly. But again I'm glad to have him back.
Also glad he came back heel, but I think he could defiantly make for a good to great face in the future, but at this time he fits the bill better as a heel.
Side note a Raw return would have worked much better, especially with a known good crowd like last Raw in Chicago, or this upcoming Raw in Montreal.

Casero flipping out about the battle royal...tyson kidd comes out and cuts a promo too

Overall, good Smackdown. Crowd was on and off chanting for Jerry Lawler. Cole looked like he was out of energy, you could tell he was still down from last night.

If the show just ends with Sheamus in the ring that is a pretty bad way to have the final show before a PPV end. Maybe it is just me but I remember times where if it was the last show before a PPV the show usually ended with some kind of chaos. Have ADR come down and interfere costing Shemus the match. Then have Dolph tease a cash in with Shemus faking a rouge kick. or even throw Orton and Kane in to it as well and have Kofi and Truth show up. Something to make people who were on the fence as to if they were going to watch actully interested in buying the PPV.

That's what they pretty much did on Raw with ending Punk and Cena like so. Smackdown is below Raw for this reason. Not enough hype in the show. It's wrestling, but it isn't on the edge of your seat wrestling, if you know what I mean.
