CC didn't pitch well and we had other scoring opportunities so it shouldn't have had to come down to that play, but it did and here we are now tied again

If it is one game that keeps them from finishing somewhere in the standings, people will look to this game, but as I said above with opportunity, there were so many other opportunities throughout the season the Yanks could have taken a game or not have blew a lead and etc, but hopefully it won't come down to that

Yup. If I was a Yanks fan, I know Id be fuming right now. Watching this series, I dont think either of these teams are real contenders. Neither of their pitching is good enough for postseason ball. Although, that could all change when Nova and Pettite return. As an O's fan, Im just enjoying this ride. I have no idea how its gonna end, but it makes me appreciate this sport.

The amount of runners left on base just from Granderson and Swisher could be a big difference in the standings right now.FOOTBALL

Teixeira deserved to be called for sliding into first base any way.

That's something you're taught in little league. Do not slide into first base unless you're avoiding a tag. It has been proven that you will get to the base faster if you run through it than if you slide. If you run through the base, you continue at full speed. Once you begin to slide, you slow down and it will take longer to get to the base. The only reason to ever slide into first base is if a throw pulls the first basemen off the bag and he's going for a slap tag.

It was Teixiera's first game back from a calf injury which he re-injured on that play and is why he dove into the bag....

I've said it before but one thing the Yankees really need to do something about if nothing else is their scouting. You can't let the same players kill you year after year after year. (not just Ciriaco who I realize this is his first year facing them but still, even Cone says he swings at everything. You should be able to get him out a few times on that alone) I mean, holding Pedroia homer-less in a series would be a start. Seeing how other teams get out guys like Pena, Reynolds, Inge, etc would be a good idea.

I don't know if you can blame scouting for the same player killing you year after year. The batters need to be held responsible as they are the ones physically seeing what a pitcher is doing.

I agree that different people share the blame including the players but (and also because that catcher should pick up on it too) let's say a player has a tough time hitting off speed pitches and yet all you throw him is fastballs, it probably isn't a very good idea to do.

I think this is just part of it though. Some teams are rather old and baseball these days is a game where a lot of younger talent has taken the stage. Maybe missing the playoffs might make the Yankees think about their hitting approach, pitching, etc. It can be corrected but sometimes it needs to take time and from time to time, people in charge might not be willing to wait that long.

The Red Sox fans I was watching that game with are in pure spoiler mode now. They don't even give a **** if they win, so long as the Yankees lose.

Just like we were during their epic collapse last season. If the Yanks can't win when CC or Kuroda are on the mound we are toast.

The braves have scored 2 or fewer runs in 9 of their last 15. That's not gonna work guys.
