Why have so many players sitting out? Seems kind of pointless, unless they're planning on releasing 5-6 players. Wouldn't it be better for some of the players involved to be loaned to a VHL team or assigned to Donbass-2, rather than riding the pine?
This is probably the best thing that could happen to Ukrainian hockey!!!! It will be great for Ukrainian fans to be able to watch their 2 homegrown NHL players before the lockout is over. Let's hope they go over and play well.
I'm so hyped right now. They're such ****** players in the greater scheme of things but this is so good from a Ukrainian-hockey perspective.
Grabbing Babchuk would be a good move if too. The team automatically improves a lot with Poni and Fedotenko, but adding Babchuk on the point would be the icing on the cake.
If the lockout lasts the whole year and Fedotenko, Poni and (if possible) Babchuk all represent Ukraine at the WC, hopefully it would convince Gaiduchenko to play as well. It would be nice for Ukraine if they had a 23 year old KHL goalie to represent them for the next 15 years.
I won't say it's nice to see them signing in Donetsk, but let's how they fare there first. They haven't played in Europe in ages and they aren't exactly known as scorers like Dadonov for example who currently with Tuppurainen looks like the best players Ukrainian team have.

Regardless, Fedotenko and Ponikarovsky are both bigger guys who can skate and play in a 2nd or 3rd line role if needed. They're by far the best Ukrainian players today and will be a good addition to this team.
If the lockout lasts through the whole season, Ukraine should have no problem in their WHC group. Fedotenko and Ponikarovsky playing against Poland, Netherlands, Romania, Lithuania and Estonia...

Jesus, your enthusiasm to every little thing is soooooo annoying. How is the potential help of these two players in beating third and fourth tier hockey teams will help the whole Ukrainian hockey? It won't!
If Lithuania will add Zubrus, will Lithuanian hockey will be revived too?
