Wow that's expensive boys.
My schooling $6K a year and I'm getting scholarships and grants for around $4K to 4.5K a year because the government thinks I'm poor even though I play poker for a living and make more than what the jobs in the field I'm studying will pay even with experience.
That's some heavy debts! What's the min. wage in NY?
Minimum wage in NY is $7.25 an hour I believe. I could be wrong. Might be $7.50

Granted the age range is pretty young on this board, no one took the FDNY test? Took the computer exam #2000 and did pretty well on it. Waiting for the CPAT(Physical) notification so I can take that and then hopefully I'm put down low on the waiting list. It's been my dream to be a fire fighter. Saving people, whether I'm on the engine or the ladder will feel amazing I'm sure. Plus, the extra lady attention isn't too shabby either.
For college, you won't get more bang for your buck than going to a state university center (at least for NY residents). Stony Brook, Buffalo, Albany, Binghamton, and certain colleges at Cornell are all great choices. I know plenty of people from the city go to Stony Brook.
BTW, Stony beat Pace 77-7 today lol. Wish I coulda gone.
$7.25 isn't good!
The minimum wage used to be $8 here but last winter, it was raised to $10.25 or something and it's scheduled to go up to $10.75 in the next 4 months or so. I don't work but $7.25 sucks even though the cost of living is lower in the US.... other than tuition though I guess
50K in debt? How much does school cost/year for you guys? It's around $6000 here including books.
6 k a year? I'm at about 60k a year. I get some financial aid but not a lot. I worked a ton these last 2 summers and paid a bunch of that off but i'm definitely ****ed in general.
And I'm studying finance and marketing so i'm hoping for a decent job market coming out of school. I was gonna do accounting but lets be real, that might actually be the most boring job out there. Only really regimented people who can withstand doing the same thing day in and day out can do that.
Oh yea. Gimme some Jets. I think they'll be pretty good this year. I'm one of a few, but y'all heard it here first.
Defense is gonna be dope and our offense will be a lot better than people have seen and make them out to be. Expect people to jump on the Jets bandwagon around week 5.
Which team are we cheering for? I'm not a football person and frankly aside from hockey, I'm not a sports person at all. I don't mind bending to peer pressure and learning football though. I'll go to wiki tomorrow to read up
So Jets and the Giants and I watched the somewhat of a miraculous end of super bowl game last year.
Which teams is the main team? I don't believe it's as clear cut as the Rangers being the real NY team and the Islanders being... well the Islanders, right?
Edit: If I should like an idiot, feel free to educate me

Your first step every semester should be to ask EACH AND EVERY professor if they are going to use the books or if they are required to require them.
My last 2 years in college I didn't buy a single book (even of the 8 or 9 that were needed). (Made deans list twice).
It really can't hurt to ask.
