It's debatable whether Nilson or Poulin is the isles top goalie prospect.
I would rather stick with Nilson/Poulin, one of whom I expect to end up Nabby's backup this season, while the other logs a lot of AHL icetime, then Kristo who I believe is headed back to college for another yr.

Isn't Kristo in the same situation as Anders Lee is and Jason Gregoire and Blake Kessel were a year ago. If so I prefer to keep anyone we have under contract.

So, it's basically the same "We have no interest in moving said players, but we'll give you this ****** player for them"
Habs need a prospect who's got the potential to be a backup in the NHL. Carey Price just signed a 6 year deal. Young goalie prospects with high potential isn't a priority.
If Koskinen is a potential backup we'll throw you a pick, or a less prospect than Kristo. He can come over next year as this year Hamilton is full with Desjardins and Delmas, or some other terrible goalie.
I'd trade Kristo for any of the three goalies. With the Habs having Cole, Gionta and Armstrong right now and Leblanc, Collberg and Gallagher in the prospect pool it is highly likely Kristo will be the odd man out in almost all situations that might unfold in the next couple of years.
I'd say Koskinen is the Islanders #1 goaltending prospect.
I'd say he's #3.
Koskinen's 2 yrs older then Poulin/Nilson. He had a disappointing 2010-2011 AHL season.
Isles bought Nilson over from Europe for the 2011-2012 season.
At one point they had all three youngsters on their AHL roster.Koskinen was the least impressive of the 3 and ended up going home to play in Europe.
Poulin and Nilson both performed well in the AHL last season.Koskinen put up very solid numbers in a Finnish league.
Poulin played well enough in nhl callups, to allow the isles to let Montoya walk.
Isles don't seem to be stressed over whether DiPietro can holdup because of Nabby/Poulin/Nilson.
Guys, the leave-college-early thing isn't technically a loophole. It's a stipulation that has been built in right from the beginning. It's also not in the NHLPA's interest to have that changed. The owners likely have much more pressing concerns than to push on that anyways.
The idea is that no team will have a player's rights for more than four years; end of story. That's what that's about and why that stipulation is part of the rules.
As for the OP, Anders Nilsson is a topflight goaltending prospect. He and Poulin are considered to be amongst the top 15 goaltending prospects in the NHL. He's going into the second of his three year ELC. In addition, the Isles drafted 7 Dmen this summer. The feeling that they currently have enough forward prospects was certainly part of that equation.
I would see GM Snow having zero to nil interest in this one.
I'd say Koskinen is the Islanders #1 goaltending prospect.
Based on...???
Certainly can't be based on him winning an AHL job over Poulin and Nilsson, as that did not happen last year.
At this point, looking like a guy who may not be an NHL topic until he's in his late 20ies, if ever, and thus, a rather poor 2nd round selection (31st) in a well regarded 2010 draft.

Yeah, at the time I wanted Stefan Elliott. Ryan O'Reilly was taken two spots after Koskinen
Why don't you understand that until he finished university, he can't sign a pro contract?
Isles lost solid college prospects Gregiore and Kessel to the Shultz 'loophole'.
This summer, they offered Anders Lee and Nelson both contracts. Nelson left college to sign, while Lee passed and is headed back to college.
Some of our fans are worried about losing Lee like we lost Gregiore and Kessel.
The Gregoire loss stings a bit more because he's quoted telling the press that the isles treated him great.
As much as the Habs need goaltending depth right now, they can sign a free agent or two, or add one through the draft - which I am actually surprised they did not do in this past year's entry draft.
The problem with Kristo is his situation right now and whether he may or may not even play a game in a Habs uniform. There is still a lot of doubt in the air with that, but there is no doubt about his skill set and compete level. The kid is going to be good once he eventually makes his way to the big league and by then, he'll have all that development and seasoning that he may just turn into a top 6 forward for the Habs. It's hard to really put a price on him now since we don't know what will happen.
