Can someone give me a quick summary of this labour law stuff? What's the differences between the Canadian provinces labour laws and the U.S laws?

It sounds like you might single handedly send the NHL finances into a complete tailspin.

lol

i havent paid to go to a game since the Rangers met the thrashers in the playoffs...cant remember the last time i spent money on anything NHL related outside of NHL Center Ice which i have no choice but to buy if i wanna watch the Rangers. quite frankly the NHL is just too damn expensive in pretty much every aspect.

What would Bettman and his **** buddies do? Fine Dolan?
Without referencing anything, I believe there is something in the league bylaws preventing that. It's probably in the thread about the league stealing the Rangers' website from a few years ago.

My fear is that they are flexing their muscles against revenue sharing. That leaves this terrible path of attacking the definition of revenue and the players' cut to satisfy the poorer clubs.

It's an interesting aspect though. Dolan's pretty blunt about his position on a lockout. I wonder how the rest feel. Playing with the old CBA is a lot more attractive then not playing at all for a majority of clubs, let's see what happens when it gets real.

Just to be specific, the CBA expires midnight heading into Sunday not midnight heading into Saturday. I thought it was latter but Michael Russo just said otherwise on Twitter.

They could have done that last year, but nothing ever gets done unless they have their backs against the wall.

Escrow:
•To ensure the correct revenue split, a percentage of player salaries could be placed in escrow. When total NHL revenues are determined at the end of the season, the escrow account is divided among players and owners to ensure that the target has been met.
It's basically a check against the players getting more than their share of revenue.

It's one tactic and only that. It just puts more pressure on the NHL to work out a deal.

I was told by a very good customer of mine who works in the NHL office in NY city that if nothing is signed by Oct 1st we will not see the hockey this season. I hope it's not true cause I have no idea what sport to follow besides hockey.

I'm so glad their so much urgency from both sides to have extensive meetings with 5 more days until an official lockout...

If (when) the players get locked out, I'm changing my picture to RangerBoy's locked out NHL logo.

I think a HFNYR board-wide picture change would be cool...

That will be their PR release when they lock out the players. I doubt it is their strategy, other than their willingness to miss another year of hockey.

Like I said in a thread earlier, I'm not sure how on board the big teams will be with missing significant hockey. There are some powerful owners that make alot of money every season, they aren't in the business of missing out on cash. Between the Winter Classic and the lockout clause in the TV deal, there is a significant amount of money to be lost with a lengthy lockout.
