I love Vinik and all.. but how are people voting him over Torts? I mean he's only been with the team for just over 2 years while Torts took us to the promise land.

I love Torts and respect what he did. It's hard to win the Cup and he managed it with a team that nobody gave a shot. He will actually be my next vote, if Vinik should happen to win this one.

That being said, in the 2.5 years Vinik has owned the team, he's changed the entire mindset about the Lightning, among the team, fans, and to a certain extent around the league. Possibly it's that he was such a breath of fresh air after the ownership stylings of dumb and dumber, but I truly shudder to think where we would be at if he hadn't bought the team. I remain convinced that Espo would have moved heaven and earth to keep the team in Tampa, but beyond that?
