Jersey Numbers
Tomas Vokoun - 92
Brandon Sutter - 16
What numbers do you think players will pick or change to?
Dustin Jeffrey - 15, will he give that number to Tanner Glass and pick #12 (21 backwards) or #20, or another number?
Joe Vitale - 46, now that Steve Sullivan is off the team, does anyone think Joe Vitale will switch to 26?
Tanner Glass - ?, if Jeffrey doesn't switch, what number can you see him taking? #10, #12, #17, etc?

Unlikely to happen but it would be neat to see Malkin wear #11, his number for Team Russia and Magnitogorsk.

I believe the reason he wears #11 is because he can't get #17. It's Khlarmov's old number, and for Russian national team, #17 is retired, Kovalchuk gets #71 so #11 is the closest looking number to it.

I believe that is correct. I've had to wear 72 occasionally because it looks the most like 12.

also, what the hell is with Despres and #47? it sounds like a training camp number, but he apparently used it in the Q. where did he come up with that random number?

My favorite number is 59.
Randomness is good. I instantly love anyone who wears an odd number...Vokoun won me over instantly for taking #92.
I really think for me it's just a rebellion thing, since I always played for teams that wouldn't allow players to have high numbers because of that ******** 'no one is above the team', as if wearing #41 instantly makes a guy a worse person than the puckhog wearing #14.

I always loved that Sid would be the last player announced in the home openers. Wonder if that will change with Vokoun takin a higher number.

Same thing as Letang I guess. Letang was 58 in juniors and stuck with it in the NHL.

Derek Morris' 53 I believe was a training camp number that stuck.

I thought they announced the alternates and captain seperately, after everyone else last year.

I think Letang said he picked #58 because nobody else in the league wore that number.
I don't know about Simon Despres, I figured #47 just his number, he wore it in the QMJHL and he wears it now.

Any number other than 1 is an injustice to Vitale.

To me, Paul Thompson seems like a #56 and Uher #76, but Harrington... #78? as a defensive defenseman? that's just wacky.

things like this make absolutely no sense to me. A number is a number. I really don't get how a player seems like a certain number fits

They should go back to assigning players numbers based on their place in the depth chart.

They're given those numbers, they didn't choose them.

They're assigned numbers...though I don't know why Harrington was assigned a number that is already in use.

It's what he wore in camp last year. I'm sure it'll change.
