Which would ya choose??

If you were given a choice, either one or the other, which would you choose?

1. Labor agreement is reached, preseason/season not affected. Isles still struggling to find a home on Long Island -- future of team in jeopardy.

OR..

2. Labor talks results in egg throwing and bridge chairs smashing on the other sides heads, season cancelled -- BUT --- Isles secure their home on Long Island for the next 30 years.

Which would ya choose?

I'm thinking I'd go with EFF the rest of the league -- secure our team here in Nassau/Suffolk, etc.. and we look forward to next year (it's the Isles mantra anyway). We would have that extra time to save up for the price of tix!!!

As heartbreaking it would be to lose a season, no contest. Gotta secure the new home.

Clearly #2. In fact, this could possibly be the one thread that unifies the "hater" and "defender" NYI fan factions. Cats and dogs living in harmony.

I'd take the second option without thinking. I'd also take the second option if it meant the team securing their place anywhere on Long Island for the next 30 years.

You could ask me this question 1,000 times and I'll say get the Isles a secured home 1,000 times.

#2 by far. I can deal with 1 lost season if we get 29 in return guaranteed.

The only way I'd even consider option 1 is if we had a chance at the Cup, and I think even the most optimistic of us seriously don't believe that can happen. Option 2 all the way.

Wow. Just... wow.

You do realize the Islanders are PART of the NHL, correct?

And those of you who think the NHL could cancel an entire season for the SECOND time in SEVEN years with no serious consequences are sadly mistaken. People came back the first time because they realized there needed to be a systemic change for the game to flourish going forward. No one liked it, but they understood it. This time? The damage would be unimaginable.

#2, in addition to a lost season of NHL, I would throw in a season of MLB and NBA to boot but would need to give pause if I needed to add in the NFL but would probably sign up for it, if it meant 30 more years in a new place on the Island...
