Unexpected. I thought Philadelphia would be the one to sign him.

Blackhawks have a real surplus of defenders now.

Keith
Seabrook
Oduya
Leddy
Hjalmarsson
Rozsival
Brookbank
Montador
Olsen

I'd say Hjalmarsson's time in Chicago is limited, and I'd expect Montador to hit waivers shortly after the CBA is resolved.

Must mean Hammer will be gone

Keith
Seabrook
Hjalmarsson
Oduya (Ugh)
Leddy
Rozisival
Brookbank
Montador (? at this point)
Olsen (Pretty much assurd he is back to AHL for year)

Too many NHL dmen ,, Brookbank and Rozisval are too good to be a #7 dman

Glad he found a home. I'm guessing they trade Hjalmarsson or Montador. Or Montador is really hurt and the Hawks know he can't play.

Interested to see the follow up move because the only position he upgrades is 7th D and we just signed one.

Makes no sense if Hammer isn't traded

Brookbank is too costly/good to be #7 dman

From reports, Montador is progressing well. I'm very surprised Chicago signed another Dman, but it must mean they have a deal in place for one of Montador or Hammer. Hopefully it's Montador.

Rozsival is as good as Hammer when healthy

Good pick up. He'll be a key depth defenseman. Hopefully he uses his shot because it's pretty good.

Oduya - Roszival pairing?

At this point in his career, I need to see him do it again. He had a serious concussion last year and is getting older. I like the signing on its own but as a replacement to Hammer.....better get an awesome deal for Hammer, that's all I have to say.

I know this came up around the draft (i think?), but who would Chicago want off of Ottawa's roster for Hammer? Or are you in a position to take picks instead of players?

why does this mean a trade is in the works? this could just be a depth signing to give Quenville more options at (i assume) a fair price.

Hmmm, thought he'd never play again the way Dustin Brown ended his career, according to some Yotes fans. Good to see he not only lived but is able to walk, talk, eat and function fully as a human being again.

Good signing for Chicago. I like it, and it provides veteran depth.

Im glad Dustin Brown is able to walk also after Smith cut his legs off according to some Kings fans. Get over it, it was in the heat of the moment you won the cup and you still feel the need to cry.

So if this spells the end of Hammer, what's chicago looking to get? I'm assuming their ideal return is a center?

Disappointing news.

I had hoped that Snow could sign him on the cheap, if the Vis arbitration case went against the NYI.

Anyone have any idea of the contract terms?

Must be a legit #2C or high end #3C so we can move Bolland up and still have a nice shutdown line.
