Well it isn't so much anymore, but it was going into the draft when talking about getting another pick. I thought he'd fit in perfectly with the Oil. For all the wrong reasons that is.
Heh. I just saw on Sportsnet that ESPN gave the Toronto Maple Leafs the distinction of being the worst franchise in North American professional sports. Now, I hate the Leafs, but come on.

It was amusing to see Burke's reaction, though.
That situation is just hilarious. First to see the ranking and then Burkes (truthful) rebuttal.

Definitely a reactionary piece. The BJ's have easily been one of the worst north-american sports franchises. Probably a few others you can put in there too long before the LEafs.
The New York Post reports that Hall of Famer Pat Lafontaine has been contacted by European investors recently about of buying the New York Islanders and keeping the team in Nassau.
According to sources with The Post's Josh Kosman and Larry Brooks, LaFontaine - who began his NHL career with the Islanders after being drafted by the club in 1983 - is 'intrigued' and may look to put together a bid.
The paper adds that Islanders owner Charles Wang, who is seeking a new arena for the franchise and reportedly looking to sell it for the right price, could be asking at a $300 million price tag.
Forbes magazine valued the Islanders at $149 million last year.
Probably good news if these investors actually have money.
Hahaha asking $300 million. Good luck Wang you dumbass.
The best is when they talk about how no one is looking to buy the team and he'll have no choice but to move them. Of course no one wants them for 300mil
Maybe, but I stopped reading at "He was top scorer in his first..."
Who ****ing cares, just because you can score in preseason doesn't make you an NHLer.
Hell if roles on teams were based on Preseason performances, Janick Hanson would be a top-6 winger. Come on, he's been treated no differently then any other prospect, he's just a Leafs so it becomes headline news all the time.

I am not sure about that. That TV contract they have alone is worth more than the asking price. Right now they are getting around 20M per year and it raises to 36M per in the final year of the deal (2030-2031). I am not sure at the rate at which it goes up, but even at 20M for another 19 years, that equals 380M.

So Gonchar thinks that they could write something in the CBA to allow players to stay in Russia. I highly doubt that is going to happen and if the Russian players refuse to sign of the CBA I'm sure all 30 of them will be out voted.
