Saw him playing Beer League this summer at Vaughan Sportsvillage haha. Poor guy.

I know a lot of players do play Beer League in the summer, but it seems he's just fallen off the face of the earth.

Haha true. It's funny, a buddy of mine sent me a picture of an old program of a tournament we played in when we were 10. There was an all-star game in the middle of it. He played on a team with DiDo. This was an A tournament. If I recall, DiDo didn't play AAA all his life, or he also wasn't drafted to the QMJHL, but still played for Team Canada at the WJHC. He's battled through it all right from the start. Definitely a guy I'll always pull for.

Other age groups in that all-star game for the tournament sported names like Stamkos, Subban (played C), McDonough. Was cool to see.

Probably, his size is a huge barrier to overcome.. being broken a lot doesn't help either. I didn't think he was ever going to see the nhl tho, not anything more than a call up atleast.

Why is Duchene's name on this thread?

The mere idea is assanine. No wonder our fan base is so poorly viewed. This place reeks of desperation and delusion.

I hate when people act like they know what's going on

In the previous thread, we were discussing the rumored trade in 2009 (Kaberle, Kadri and Schenn for the second overall pick) which could have landed us Duchene/Hedman.

We don't need Leddy. He's an offensive D. We have that covered by Gardiner, Liles, and Phaneuf. From the pipeline, we have Blacker, and Reilly.

If we trade Colborne for a D, it should be for a good stay at home type. I would do it for Hjalmarsson.

The Leafs are in no position to be trading centre prospects for Dmen.

I was going to say the same thing. Leddy looks promising and all but in my opinion he is the last kind of player we need right now. I also would do it for Hjalmarsson, I think we could use a guy like him. Big guy who can stay at home. Only problem is he doesn't shoot right. Shooting right would be ideal but I think we can work around it, can't get too picky haha.

I agree with you. I was stating that with the assumption that we're trading Colborne for a D.

Personally wouldn't want to trade a defensive defensemen unless he has some offensive skill atleast close to average.

Regardless, I don't see the leafs trading C prospects, one of bozak or macclement could be gone once we see who fits better, And other 1C experiments prove to be successfull. If they aren't than JVR moves back to wing and if we are playing the youth that makes MAC expendable.. either way, I don't see BB doing much to change the D, and even less until he sees the existing product on the ice.

Douglas Murray from the Sharks.. but he sucked last year and Hjalmarsson but he will cost a bit IMO but he is a lock for top 4 duties.

Hjalmarsson is pretty much everything we hoped Komisarek would be for us.

Seeing teams like the Redskins and Broncos look like whole new teams with new quarterbacks (RG3 and Manning) makes me think of what the Leafs would look like with an all-star goalie in net.

If we had a goalie steal just 6 games for us last season, we would have had a playoff spot (assuming one of the six was against Ottawa). It's ridiculous that Burke plans on going with Reimer next season.

I played against him at Vaughan Mills last summer... our team thumped him.

I gotta say, any love I had for him prior to that game was no longer by the end. On his team he was by far the loudest, most obnoxious, irritating cocky guy I've played against (and this is Vaughan, remember).

He kept saying "Oh yah, where do YOU play?!" over and over, as if we were supposed to stack against him. We were up 8-2 with less than 5 to go and he was screaming at the ref that his team had 3 instead of 2 and they needed to put it up on the board.

Total toolbox.

He didn't exactly suck last year, but yes Murray is a tank, Hjalm would also be good.

Problem is SJ needs Murray as well, and well we don't exactly make good trading partners with Chicago IMO.

We can only make deals if we deal from our positions of strength - ie bottom 6, and defensemen. We won't get getting either with what we have available.

Might as well wait for Komi and see if he regains any of his form... or any new form, for that matter.

Lombardi is absolute garbage and Hawks have plenty of C prospects in pipeline already (Pirri , McNeill , Hayes)

He had a bad year after an awful concussion, and returned early and without a training camp.

Prior to that, it was pretty clear he was a well above average top 9 option.

Garbage is hyperbole.

EDIT: I am not saying however this is a deal Chicago would make, it is not.
