he can hit people which is enough for some Flyer fans. I wouldnt be opposed to adding him. At the right price of course.
People still seem to think the Flyers can easily trade a top 6/9 forward for a defender. They really cant. Unless you think Fedotenko can be a full time top 6 winger.
I wonder what Subban is asking for, and I really wonder just how eager the Habs are at trading him. In all honesty I doubt the talks about a trade were serious IMO
Yep. In the long run, perhaps trading Couturier or Schenn for Subban makes the team stronger. Right now I don't know that it does, and this organization cares a LOT about "right now."

I made one small comment on the main boards about how he isn't the best defender and immediately I was questioned if I have ever seen Subban play. Should I have asked him if he has ever seen him play?
He is below average, but he is very young. All young defenders have growing pains in their own end. You just hope it doesn't persist throughout their careers.

I disagree that Subban is below-average defensively. He logged huge minutes against top lines almost from the moment he was part of the big club. Yeah, he's raw and turns the puck over, but this is most often when he's trying to do it all himself. Though I'd say 'no' to Subban for Couturier, my response is not as automatic as everyone else's here.
And Carle is a poor comparator to Subban. Subban can play physical D, has a hard, accurate slapshot from the point, and will drop the gloves.

He is definitely a different player from Carle (other than that "play defense" thing). He's too busy hot dogging to play his position properly. He's improved in that regard but still has a long way to go.
Let's put it this way -- if your team has a 1-goal lead, would you be comfortable with him out there protecting it? I wouldn't.
To add a point against: remember the mini-feud with Richards a couple of years back? Subban is also an agitator, and I've seen him get caught up too much in that, particularly trying to throw the huge hit.

For sure, Subban loves having the puck on his stick, and gets too caught up with the highlight-reel play. I agree with you that he improved over the last season and still has work to do. A 1-goal lead? If we hypothetically mixed Subban in with the current D line-up, my first choice would be Coburn - Grossmann, but I wouldn't say never to putting Subban - Timonen out there. Conversely, Subban would be out there almost every time I was facing a 1-goal deficit with a minute left.
I do believe Subban holds more value to teams around the league compared to Couts, but the Flyers front office loves Couts. Shoot if that report is correct, Lavy did not want Couts name in the convo for Subban. I just really think the Flyers will not move Couts at any cost(I would trade him for Pietrangelo )(I also think we could try and target him next year, kinda surprised Blues haven't tried to extend him)
If Couts gets moved for PK, will go down as the worst decison in Holmer's history
No way Homer does this. Sean is a big part of our future and it would take alot more than just PK to land him. Plus I am not a fan of PK and I told Paul that.
Having watched him play many games, it should be a no go. I mean he has gotten Benched numerous times for hot dogging and losing games by himself. Couts on the other hand already plays with a certain maturity and determination and I don't remember him losing us any games and it is his first year. We need to start drafting and grooming our own defense men.
Well I see in my alphabet soup the following letters as well C-O-U-T-U-R-I-E-R....I did not see the following letters form S-U-B-B-A-N
I also saw this ............L-E-I-G-H-T-O-N -S-U-C-K-S
I thought the soup reference was pretty out there, too.
Subban has a ton of talent and a ton and a half of heart. Yes, he got benched, but that was a wise point of Canadiens' management to work on his discipline. Last season was a poop sandwich pretty much from start to finish for them, anyway.
To introduce another point, if Bergevin is talking about Subban, it's because there's a significant question that they can sign him. Advantage: Holmgren. Canadiens shouldn't expect 4 quarters for a dollar if this is the case.
Seen this script before, Couturier's been involved in too many rumors for Holmgren to not have him on the table.
No way, he's just the first guy every team asks for. He is highly coveted. Homer, Ed, and Lavvy love the guy. He won't be moved unless it's for something crazy.
