Teddy Purcell

He's had a pretty good season last year and he's still young.

If we only go by value without thinking if it would make sense or not for Tampa to trade him, I'd say he's easily worth a 1st round pick.

Question is, would you say it would be a late, mid or top 10 pick?

To get Tampa to move him, probably a mid to high. Ridiculous? Sure. Tampa has a lack of other options, though, so they'd need a lot of convincing.

Devils would welcome him with open arms.

Would the Lightning be interested in any of our defensemen/defensive prospects?

His value would probably be a 1st round 10-20 (well to pull him away at least). If it is for players, we would need a top 6 in return. Most likely Purcell + for Top 6.

There is no need to move him though. He plays great with Vinny and Stammer. Having a player that can freely move between the first and second line and have chemistry on both is hard to find.

If by softer you mean more skilled, then I agree. I'd swap Clowe for Purcell in a heartbeat.

Probably not, they got Brewer, Salo, Carle, Hedman, etc

Purcell is one of those quietly good players, he is probably much more valueable to Tampa than anyone else so there is no use dealing him.

I'd take a lot to get him from Tampa, working well with Stamkos. I'd want to hold on him to see if he can hit the 80 point mark at all. He can actually play left wing, which Tampa isn't stocked with in our Top 6. If we'd trade him it'd be for a top four defensemen to replace Salo and put him as the #5.

Not sure if Buffalo needs Purcell, but I'd be willing to do Sekera for Purcell? Give or take a pick.

So it doesn't really make sense to trade Purcell, I guess.

Not at all. Like myself and other posters here have said, Purcie has too much chemistry with Stammer and Vinny. He can move freely between the top 2 lines without a hitch. Having him gives us the opportunity of

Purcell - Vinny - St. Louis
Malone - Vinny - Purcell
Purcell - Stamkos - St. Louis
Malone - Stamkos - Purcell

Today at camp apparently Purcell was playing with Vinny and Connolly on the second line. I am hoping Connolly can really play that top 6 position for us, but I am not holding out for him. Connolly trained with Stammer so that gives me some hope. Pouliot was also training with Vinny too this year.

Outsider's PoV. I've read a couple of threads in regards to value of Purcell. I've noticed two general theme about him come up. 1. Great chemistry with the big three(StL, Stam & VL) 2. Can play either L or R Wing. So basically coach can pretty much stick him anywhere on top 6 and earn his pay. I think he is a player that is in the right situation on the right team, at the right time. While a 1st is prob fair value, I think he is best served in Tampa. The whole, "it ain't broke, so why try and fix it" scenario. Or to use a classic HF buzz phrase, "overpayment required". Just my two cents from what I've gleaned from Tampa fans

Agree 100%. I think the thread was meant to gauge fair value in a vacuum, but from a fan's perspective this is a case where his value to the Lightning is just considerably higher.

And the Lightning just signed him to a 3 year extension. His value may be a first but he's very unlikely to be moved for one.

There is no reason to trade Purcell for a 1st round pick.

we've seen Purcell in the West before. He's tailor made for the Eastern conference.
