Bombulie is reporting that Sneep and Veilleux have reported to WBS. Don't they have to pass through waivers first?

Don't think they do with the lockout looming. Anyone on a two-way deal and report their team's ahl club without going through waivers.

That kind of makes me wish Jeffrey was on a two-way deal, he needs to get some ice-time somewhere I think. Maybe he'll go somewhere over in Europe.

There is a special waiver setup for this week only. Other teams are putting guys on waivers in order to send them to their AHL clubs. From what I gather they can be claimed by other teams. So far the only player put on waivers by the Pens is Peterson.

I'm not sure. Who are these players? But if these players are eligible to be picked up off of waivers, what good does that do if there isn't an NHL team to report to? I thought everyone could just report directly to their AHL affiliate.

Florida just put a bunch of guys through waivers yesturday. Maybe all the other teams are just waiting until the last glimmer of hope fades.

They changed the rules temporarily. If you are on a two-way and assigned to the AHL before Sep 15 you can bypass waivers (lookout EA NHL series' rules are indeed applicable for once).

edit: or are they only waiver exempt if they are called back up? I have confused myself

Yep, it's only re-entry. Player can be claimed when sending down.

Because of a risk, see above, players can sign AHL-only contract after the 9/15. Big Dog would probably sign the AHL contract.

EDIT:

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
Told #AHL to allow NHL clubs to sign current 2-ways to AHL-only contracts after 9/15, but only if they were on AHL "clear" list last spring.

I hope there's a way to watch the Baby Pens play and not have to pay for that crappy AHL-live site.

According to Dave Molanari of the PG, 7 players were put on waivers today. All concidered longshots to make the NHL squad and expected to pass through waivers. No Tangadi, Strait, or Bortuzzo. Also no Sneep or Velluex {SP} which is odd. Do they really think those two have a chance of making the big club or not passing through waivers? They are already in WBS skating.

I'd be shocked if a team claimed Veilleux or Sneep.
