Agent Terry Bross says you can flip a coin right now as to Doan signing with #Canucks or Coyotes.

Update - Shane Doan's agent tells CKWX that he wants to make the announcement decision in 3 hours.

Finally coming to a head. At the very worst, his agent is being a heck of a tease if he ends up going to Phoenix.

UPD: He's really laying it on thick, yowza.

I see two scenarios unfolding from the perspective of a jaded Canucks fan...

1) After all this peacocking, Doan signs with Phoenix anyways and leaves us the bridesmaid once more.

or,

2) Doan signs a four year deal with us, only to have the lockout stretch on for that same amount of time.

I counter with optimism! Cautious optimism. >.>

Three hours is a rather interesting choice. It would be noon out in BC, thus people at work would be able to check TSN on their lunch break.

Is TSN gonna have a special? I'd rather watch that then this lockout BS.

Or worse yet, Doan signs a 4 year deal with us, only to lose the first season to a lockout. Doan loses his passion for hockey and retires.

I was dead sure Justin Schultz would sign in Vancouver. I'm even more confident Doan will do whatever it takes to sign in Phoenix. Unfortunately, I'm never wrong twice.

Zero chance Doan ends up a Canuck. I'm willing to stake Y2K's reputation on it.

At the risk of sounding like Debbie Downer, I don't buy any of this. I think this is just Doan trying to be a "good guy" and make it look like his buddy Gilman had a shot. No way he signs in Vancouver.

Very interesting. Wouldn't it be something if we got him for a decent deal both cap and term wise. It's certainly looking more and more likely. Doan is exactly what we need right now.

sounds like doan has made up his mind. probably a super-hometown discount to stay in phoenix and help the team's financial solvency.

agent clearly wants him to sign somewhere else.

If Doan signs in Vancouver, I will track down a photo of Roberto Luongo topless, get it professionally printed, and send it to Y2K on my own dime.

The Canucks have been in it all summer. Doan just hasn't been ready to leave Phoenix. I don't know if, when push comes to shove today, he ever will be ready to leave but if he does decide to leave he will be a Canuck.

I don't know if I want him for the rumored price he'll fetch. Just seems too rich for my liking. Giving the benefit of the doubt Gillis knows what he's doing.

If we get Doan, Luongo's going for futures and that's what Gillis meant by not making our team better, IMO.

Pretty much down to the wire now. Hopefully we re-sign Burrows or Edler too.

Doan knows full well the Coyote ownership situation won't be sorted out. If that was enough to stop him from signing in Phoenix wouldn't he already be a Canuck?

I just got home from a graveyard shift and was planning on sleeping, but I honestly cant sleep until Doan makes a decision.

If he signs with us, I'm ordering a Doan jersey ASAP.

If Doan doesn't wait until the last minute before signing elsewhere, he looks like the bad guy in PHX. I'm sure he does't want to be Jamison or CoG's scapegoat for the Coyotes moving.

Me too.

And he's willing to sign at a discount, too! Doan=Awesome, whatever he decides.

Doan's agent likes to talk, a lot. Really hard to see how much smoke he is blowing up people's *****.

He certainly knows how to drum up interest, that's for sure. Granted that's easy to do when your client is arguably the best player available on the market.

EDIT: PITB made me LOL with this Zinger that any Walking Dead fan will get:

If Doan signs with Phoenix, it's the equivalent of when Jacqui decides to stay behind at the CDC at the end of Walking Dead season 1.

I had given up hope on Doan, but maintain that he would be a massive upgrade to our team. Hard to get hopes up when he seems like a lock to go back to Phoenix, but will make for an interesting day anyway!
