And in fact is rather funny that Canucks have only 11 Canadians on the team, where Los Angeles has 17 Northern folk.

So if anything, you should want Shane Doan to come to Vancouver and you could root for us since we're so little Canadian

I think it was RT, maybe I'm wrong, that brought up the idea of Doan possibly coming back, depending on contract length, dollar figures, etc. which got me thinking...

IF he does sign with another team, what do you think it would take to get him back to PHX should the team end up staying in the Valley?

I mentioned this in the main thread where a poster couldn't understand, for the life of him, why Doan would choose Vancouver over LA. I said that besides the Kamloops and Gillman connection, Doan wouldn't want to go to a division rival. So what do you guys think? If the ownership situation isn't resolved in time and Doan chose to sign somewhere else, would you be mad at Doan if he chose to sign with say LA as opposed to Vancouver?

No Coyotes fans are going to be mad at Doan, no matter what he decides to do today.

I agree. I will be angry and sad about the situation, that it couldn't be settled long before now, and that so many people OTHER THAN Doan had such a big hand in making his decision for him.

But I will never be mad at Doan. He's given this team 100% of his heart and he has shown to be more loyal to a franchise than just about anyone else I can think of. He's made it clear that he wants to be a Coyote. But other parties have made it very difficult for him to continue to do so.

He will always be 'the captain' in the hearts of Coyotes fans.

If there is a season, it would be nice to go with 3 A's the first year.

IMO, Doan will sign with the Nucks at 2:00 pm our time. It will be a blow to the organization and the franchise. I hope it doesn't mean the ownership bid fizzels too. If I were Jamison, depending upon how much money I had already invested to get a deal done, I would seriously think twice about moving forward. I probably would have walked away the minute the CoG said they wanted to renegotiate a lease deal they voted on two months ago....

I you believe in karma, I just don't see this happening at this point.

So if Doan leaves, and under the new CBA there is no roll back of salaries and a new cap is phased in, what players do the Coyotes add to get to the cap floor?

Even with Doan staying (I would guess it wouldn't be for $7M+) I have been wondering where the Coyotes would spend to get to the floor.

But IF he leaves, it really opens up the question of how they make it to the floor. Maloney will have some work to do... mind you, there would be no rush as it seems we are going into lockout hell anyway... and we may be there for a long while.

Isn't this the time of year where we all put on our homer goggles and rose coloured glasses and say this is OUR year?

I wouldn't mind Kostitsyn, but there is a rumor that he signed in the KHL.

GMDM will have no choice but to make some trades.

If [and that's a big if of course] the owners got their way in CBA negotiations the team would already be over the cap floor.

Maloney says he's done with Free Agency. From here on out any new players will most likely come via waivers or trade.

In all seriousness though, if Doan doesn't sign, it will most likely be Yandle with the C. He is probably our most vocal guys in the locker room, he loves win and hates to lose, and leads by example. Also, after every game he is the last one off the ice.

If Shane Doan signs in Vancouver - say bye to Alexandre Burrows.

One person is doing that talking, and it's be refuted by many more reputable Canuck Reporters. There are many people ahead of Burrows for the chopping block, don't you worry.

Terry Bross was quoted saying the Canucks offer wasn't the most because of cap constraints, so I imagine it'd be a very reasonable cap hit with light shedding.

Luongo trade sheds salary, Ballard will be gone one way or another....long before Burrows is gone.

Sarah McLellan tweeted that Maloney and Treliving are at the Ice Den watching the guys practice. Probably there to say goodbye to Doan.
