They all should clear.

I'm kinda surprised Dowell isn't going to Houston.

Maybe it's because of space issue?

If Dowell's got a wife/kids he might not want to be sent down now.

All those guys were going to be in Houston anyways.

As for Veilleux/Dowell, there's a limit on how many veterans an AHL team can have.

Russo said Veilleux met with his wife and they decided they didn't want him to go on waivers. First because he might not want to play in the AHL now (by his choice, obviously he could be sent down if the club chooses) and second, he could be picked up by other teams. He's happy in MN so for now he's waiting.

Could be the same thing with Jake Dowell, who is from WI.

There is a limit, but I'd be rather surprised if Houston were at that limit. More likely Veilleux and Dowell were given the option (well, we know that Veilleux was) by the team and elected to sit out rather than play in Houston.

Offhand I'm not certain what the limit is, but the structure is "X players with over 400 NHL games, Y players with over 100 NHL games" where X is like 1 or 2 and Y is like 6 or 8. Too lazy to look up the specifics right now.

Any potential super stars put on waivers by other teams that we should swoop in and claim?

Would probably not mind if any of these players were claimed. We could use the contract slots.

They're not at the limit but if there is a lock-out there might be other players who want to remain in North America and they could end up taking some of those spots. Makes sense not to rush Veilleux/Dowell down there especially if they don't want to go, even though one(or both) would likely end up in Houston if we do have a season.

4 of the 5 were signed this off-season by Fletcher, so obviously he values them as members of this organization. Bagnall's the other, and he's going to be a leader in Houston, perhaps even captain.

It's the exact opposite of Doug Risebrough putting him on waivers to prove a point.

Really?

You wouldn't mind losing an AHL all-star defenseman (Connelly) + the potential new Aeros captain (Bagnall)?

Genoway's a pretty good AHLer.

McMillan had 3 points, and was +1 in his 11 game call-up with the Wild last year.

Palmer also looked like a decent depth option during his call-up last year - until he got injured.
