-Luongo gets traded, minimal cap hit comes back
-depending on where cap sits 1-2 of Raymond/Ballard/Booth gets traded to make space.
Tagging room won't be an issue. We have $19 million to work with.

What's he hoping to leverage? By the sounds of it he already has a contract in principle drawn up with Phoenix; it's just a matter of whether he wants to commit to an uncertain situation.

Exactly. We have Hamhuis, Bieksa, Edler, Garrison as our top 4 defensemen (hopefully Garrison works with Edler). We have Chris Tanev entrenched on the right side as well and if Garrison doesn't work with Edler then perhaps Tanev can step up. We also have a few defensive prospects who deserve a look (Connauton, Sauve, Corrado?). I just don't see Ballard here long-term when we have cheaper options available.

Cool, Ok now hopefully Gillis and Gillman will get it done. (Along with Bettman and Fehr)

Since I have nothing better to do, let me have a go at the #canucksluck game.

Doan will sign with Vancouver, and we will proceed to have an amazing run in the playoffs. It's game 7 of the SCF, but Doan accidentally deflects a shot destined for the back of the net (GWG) wide. Game goes to 4OT and we lose.

He's already agreed to a deal with Phoenix management. Doan is the reason he hasn't signed. He's been waiting for the team to sell.

He doesn't need "leverage". He has the contract he wants from them if he wants it.

In my mind, the fact that Doan hasn't put pen to paper in Phoenix yet is a good sign for us. Unless there is significant movement on the ownership front in Phoenix, what would have changed from the past week that would lead Doan to re-signing there? That ownership situation hasn't gotten any better in the past week, and if it wasn't good enough for him to sign then why would it be good enough now?

I'm optimistic.

That's kind of the way I feel, too, but there's always the chance he gets to the "okay, this is it, the sale isn't done, time to leave" stage and just can't do it and signs there out of blind loyalty. We'll see.

Glendale wants changes to the Agreement with Jamison so there's no way that is getting done by the end of today which is the last day you can sign before this lockout deal-y.

Doan had basically said he was signing with Phx if a deal was done.

He agreed the the terms of a contract with them pending the finalization of the sale of the team to Jamison. Jamison hit a snag (again) when the City of Glendale said they didn't want to go through with the lease agreement they had previously agreed on, and instead wanted to re-negotiate a new lease that includes some form of lockout protection for the city.

...and here we are.

Deal still hasn't gone through, and his Agent has been talking up a storm about Vancouver this morning. It'll all be over in a couple of hours, the question is where does he end up? Phoenix or Vancouver?

And I was hoping to get work done today...

I'd be happy with that. I'm sure there's a big signing bonus attached to that contract...so you know, he will be financially secure during the lockout.

That's right at my comfort level... I am hoping most of that is front loaded...

That's a good thing for the Pacific Northwest -- Vancouver and Seattle.

I'm pretty sure they're just tired of allocating public funds to keep the Coyotes on life support.

Jamieson has no dollars, just pull the plug and let it die already.

The COG just had to cancel an annual parade because they couldn't afford to fund it. There was also some talk a few months back about selling off some of the city's expensive artwork to finance the Coyotes

The Coyotes are being moved to North Vancouver? Whoa, that's awesome!

Sounds like an addiction right there when you're cancelling/selling things of value to keep something with negative value.

that's actually a very good way of looking at it. Comparing the COG council members to drug addicts on the DTES. Different levels, but similar tendencies.

Might be more than an hour — Bob McKenzie said it should be by 5PM ET, so possibly 3 more hours, haha.
