No thanks. I wouldn't mind trading Bailey, but I would hope it's for someone around the same age.

No desire for Antropov. Willing to wait and see if Bailey finally breaks out!

Antropov scored 35 points last season, makes $4M, and is a UFA at year end.

Bailey scored 32 points (granted in 11 more games), makes $1M, and is an RFA at year end.

Ummm....no thank you.

Snow continues to push his youth movement. Which is why imo, he won't trade 22 yr old Bailey for a 32 yr old Antropov.

There is no evening out that 10 yr difference for a team building with youth.
Isles will give Bailey a long look at wing, where he ended last season and has less responsibility.

Some of the salaries in these NYI proposals, amaze me.

Don't fans realize the isles could have had Parenteau and his 67 pts, if they had $4m in their budget?

Just STOP!!!
It was never about the 4 million!!! It was about the long term contract with NTC that Parenteau Wanted! Snow did not see him as a long term fit for the club and would not go the extra years without the ability to trade him when there was a prospect looking to take his place.

Neither PA or Snow have said Parenteau demanded a NTC or NMC. He got neither from the Avs.

And that $4m per salary, is a big reason Parenteau is an ex-isle.

You think it's a coincidence that Snow replaced PA with a player on a dirt cheap contract, making 1/4th what Parenteau will make?

I'm so sure it had to do more with the years than the salary.

Have you read or heard about Parenteau demanding a NTC or NMC?

No, and I didn't mention it in my post either.

He wanted a 4-5 year deal with us. I'm betting Garth didn't offer him more than 3, and he left because of it. He would have paid him the $4 million he's getting now if he gave accepted the term he was offered.

My understanding also based on the twitter accounts from either PA or his agent a week before July 1. They were real close on salary but not years.
I assumed Garth was only offering 1-2 years because the talks broke off shortly before July 1.
I realize that I'm in the minority on this but it's my opinion that they will move Strome to RW and felt that they wouldn't be able to do so with KO and PAP both there.

Haha, this thread has taken a wrong turn from the OP. To that, I say that it's a no go. The Isles have Bailey on the cheap and still has some upside. I've never been a fan of Antropov, he just always leaves you wanting more because he's got ability.

As for PA, all indications point to your take on it. I give PA a lot of credit for elevating his game the last two years, but he's still limited. I think Snow envisions one of his draft picks to pan out to be that elite winger for Johnny and wanted him on a 'bridge' contract to match his bridge status. They have stockpiled picks and probability has it that one of the highly touted kids is going to hit. Other than Nino and Strome, Nelson and Kabanov (yes, him) are high end prospects. Cizikas and Ullstrom are both NHL ready and have upside. It was a numbers game.

As for Strome, I'm of the camp that he remain at Center. I have softened my stance and just want him to be put in the best possible situation to use his talents. If that's at RW, so be it. If he grows up a bit, he could form a potent duo with JT. Pierre McGuire could be right, don't you hate that?
