Just curious as he seems to fall through the cracks when it comes to listing the impact offensive youth on Edmonton. (hall,eberle,yakupov,Nugent hopkins). What would Edmonton get/want for him. Would other teams give up anything for him?
Edmonton wouldn't give him up for nothing, his future is still top-6 if he figures it all out. Edmonton shouldn't and won't sell him low, or at all, probably.
I'd be willing to send an "NHL ready" prospect from Washington in exchange for him. Most of Washington's "project" prospects don't have the same upside as MPS, so there'd be no point in them trading him. But they may consider someone who's knocking on the NHL door right now, like Tomas Kundratek, Mattias Sjogren, or Kevin Marshall.
PRV is only going to be traded in a package I am thinking. If he does not pan out as a top 6 he will be a very good 3rd liner as he has speed and is very good in the two way game.
Only way I see us moving PRV is if it's apart of a package to bring a proven player in. We don't need more unproven prospects. We have a lot of that. We don't need any players ready to make the jump, but might not be able to, we have that as well.
There just is no reason to move the guy right now. We also aren't very stacked on the LW, so keeping him around isn't going to hurt.
They're not going to trade him for cheap and no team is going to pay a bunch for him.
If there's an NHL season they'll see how he can do. If there's not and stays in the AHL AND sucks, then he'll probably be dealt for a 2nd and an ok prospect.
It'll be interesting if Hall, RNH, and Eberle end up in OKC with Paajarvi, if they do I'd try Hall at center and play Paajarvi on his wing. Playing with any of these guys would do wonders for Paajarvi's confidence IMO.

I'm pretty sure MPS is more than knocking on the door, considering he scored 15 goals in his rookie season. Most young players struggle in their second season, Edmonton would have zero motivation to trade MPS for any of the prospects you list above. He's more of a player they would include in a package for an established NHLer.

He really came into his own in the AHL last year. Chances are he's going to get one more year in the AHL. At this point he's an incredibly effective checking line forward, but Edmonton has shown interest in developing his confidence in the offensive zone.
There's no reason why he can't turn into Hossa V2.0. He's got good size, he's naturally athletic, he's got wicked speed and he's got a good shot when he takes his time with the puck.
Paajarvi's value at this point is irrelevant at this point in time because it would take an overpayment to acquire him. I'm guessing a good young 2nd pairing defenseman. Talking proven talent here, folks. He's younger than Gagner and he was ranked way higher than Gagner on a lot of people's lists before he was drafted. Edmonton was ecstatic to get to draft the guy when their turn came around.
We drafted Lander a few rounds later to give them(They played together in Sweden) both a reason to stick around in Edmonton for a long time. Not because we wanted to waste some time/draft picks.
This is not a good time to trade him. He is not worth anything or -one that would be able to make the Oilers better in the near future on his own or as the main part of a package. You'd get another project prospect or okay-ish picks. If he was traded in a package for a good NHL player, he is not going to be the best player in that package by a significant margin.

IIRC, Hall gets paid his full salary because he was on LTIR to finish last season. Even though his shoulder would likely be ready to start the AHL season, I could see him taking his time re-habbing and maybe not play until January. This would afford MPS plenty of time on the wing with RNH and Ebs until Hall shows up. Even if/when he gets bumped to the second line, he'll be playing with Lander and Hartikainen, which is a heck of a 2nd line. This year should be fine in terms of a boost confidence-wise.
As for dealing him, there isn't proper value currently and thus no reason to do it. If he is moved, I could see it in a package with a 1st for a high end rental.

I'd expect them to score about 1000 points each in the AHL

Mps doesn't have a lot of value on his own, right now. Maybe Bouwmeester for Whitney and MPS. Whitney's has had major injury problems but a good prospect might make it worth the chance for the Flames. Oilers have great depth down the left side and get a solid, iron man defenseman. Flames get a prospect, with a huge up side and hope that the up coming extended break clears up Whitney's injury woe's
I'd love for the Devils to pick him up. He's the perfect young two-way winger with a ton of upside that they lack right now and would replace Elias in the future. Only problem is the Devils only have Tallinder or Volchenkov to offer and I'm not sure that would seal the deal.
IMO it would not be wise for EDM to move him now, his value is not at its highest and he still has tons of potential. Wait another year and see how he does in the AHL, especially if he will be playing with the likes of Hall, Eberle, and RNH. The best move in this situation is to just ride it out.

Bouwmeester's contract is too rich for what he brings, and with Whitney reporting that he's signifigantly better, (link,) this would be too much risk for Edmonton without enough upside.
Personally, I think that Edmonton will move MPS to the right wing from the left, and his future role with the team is to play him on the third line as a PK specialist. (likely Smyth-Horcoff-MPS in the upcoming season.) He has size and defensive awareness, and Edmonton has Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, and Hemsky on the wings in the top six.
New article in the journal about him. Says he worked out his upper body alot. More then his whole career. Wants to be better in the corners and in front of the net. Said he worked on his mental game to be tougher and that the AHL last year taught him alot.
Id say keep him and eventually he will be a fixture on the 3rd line (2nd line potential if everything goes right). Not every pick needs to be a top line player especially 10th overall
