Have you ever noticed that when PK is on the ice and a teamate scores, he's more often than not the first guy in his arms to celebrate. You are just reaching there.

Others teams did the same. Carlson signed this morning to a great contract from the Caps, hopefully the Habs can use the contract he got to our advantages against him

If anything it should further reinforce most posters around here's beliefs (mine included) that Subban should get the same or near same deal as Pacioretty.

Subban is a slightly better player than Carlson at this point and given the extra taxes here, I think 4.5 Per is fair.

I would sign him at 4.5 per year for as long as he wants...up to 9-10 years. That would be a huge steal long term.

If it is true, the only thing it proves is that other teams see value in Subban, and it isn't just a player benefiting from local media talking up a player who would not play a significant role on another team.

Assuming PK has to be traded and there are no other options, would any of you object to this trade to keep the rebuild going.

To Phi: Subban, Plekanec and Eller
To Mtl: Couturier, Coburn and Schenn

Leaves a pretty gaping hole on our defense, especially if Markov doesn't return to his old self. Coburn is OK but nothing special.

Wow, trading my three favourite Habs at once would hurt.

Assuming the Schenn we are talking about is Brayden, it makes sense on some level but Coburn is a definite downgrade from Subban...

Coburn is a #3 guy at best. Subban is already a #2 with a very good possibility of ending up a #1.

Mathias Brunet is giving credits to Bertrand Raymond for his story.

We are a 28th overall team. Gaping holes are irrelevant. Our team is a gaping hole. If Bergevin can get a good return for Subban, he has to go for it, regardless of immidiate impact.

The reason why I like the Flyers so much is that Holmgren has the balls to make moves. His team is always competitive and it will never satisfy itself with just ''making the playoffs'' like we do. He understands that trading talent is required to get talent, and getting ahead requires taking risks (or timely tanking).

That makes no sense at all.

If you finish 28th overall, the LAST thing you should be doing is trading your young players for a "good return".

You must have loved Gainey and Gauthier because they had tons of balls...unfortunately not all the "ballsy moves" paid off...Cammalleri Ribeiro Halak Gomez etc

I don't think anyone would have had any problem with the report had he just reported that there were trade talks at one point. Trade talks happen frequently.

The problem is Raymond turned his ''there were trade talks'' story into a ''I am going to indirectly bash Subban's attitude as well'' article.

Edit: And I should add, RDS also blows everything out of proportion when it comes to the Habs, which they of course did on this report of trade talks that probably happened in late July.

Subban is a #1. He plays #1 minutes and has all the duties of a #1 D. He would also be #1 in Philly. There are other teams he would be #1 also like Edmonton, Anaheim, Calgary, Carolina, Colorado, Columbus, Dallas, New Jersey, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Washignton.

He wouyldn't be #1 in Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit (maybe), Los Angeles, Minnesota, Nashville, NYI, Ottawa, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, St.Louis, San Jose, Vancouver.

Florida, NYR and Winnipeg are debatable.

But a few of those teams that he wouldn't be #1 on, I'm sure would trade their aging #1 D for Subban straight today. And Subban is only going to get better.

Coburn could be coupled with a #1 sorta like Gorges is right now with Subban. He's good enough for that. But not even close to being good enough to be a #1 D.

If we were to trade Subban to Philly or anywhere else, we would not have a #1 D. Or Markov or someone else would become the defacto #1 without earning or retaining (Markov) the position.

At this point Couturier is a #3 C. You trade for him, you trade for potential but that potential looks to be a #2 C. Subban still has potential to be a Norris candidate. Philly needs to add a lot to get Subban.

Some of you are so over-rating Subban on here, like he's the next Orr or something, he has played 2 years, a small sample size, he may or may not turn out to be a great player. I say around 4-5 million, not a cent more, length up to 1 year before he becomes a free agent, that way if he is a bust we can get rid of him, if a superstar we can sign him long term.

If traded no skin off my butt, I cheer for the team and not the players.

No Coburn is first pairing/shutdown material. Like Gorges.

any Subban trade talk is crazy.

Ya other teams call, just like we could call and ask for Crosby's availability.

Just like teams calling for Jarome Iginla for the last 5 yrs...

Pk Subban, you trade him your stupid.

RYAN McD in NY says hello as to why tradin young d is dumb.

Grabovski scored no less 20 goals in 3 of his 4 seasons since leaving Montreal....(20 ,29, 23)

Why be stupid again?

If we get Giroux and Couturier in return? We'll manage fine, esp. if Bryz goes the other way(who is average but we get Giroux AND Cout).

I think the kiddies are getting bent out of shape over what Raymond reported even though what he reported may be accurate: they may have talked about Subban and the Habs probably asked for Couturier. Doesn't mean this will happen. Bergevin has a clear head and knows that good Ds are pretty damn rare in this league.

Doesn't mean people should crap on Raymond, he had to report what was said to him.
