Sabres players playing during the lockout
Figured it would be a good idea to have a list of all of the Sabres who will be playing elsewhere during the lockout.

if there's one good thing about the lockout, it's that guys like adam, girgs, and mcnabb will get a full ahl season to grow/improve. same with grigs in juniors (physically speaking, he definitely needs to improve his conditioning and get bigger). sabres could have the perfect storm brewing after the lockout again, a la 05-06.

Leggio can't just be assigned, that's why. They need to sign him to an AHL deal.

Lockout = one less season of watching Leino fumble around as a Sabre?

Ehrhoff is going to play for his hometown team Krefeld if they're able to pay his insurance rate:

Probably not.
Last lockout, the missed year counted as a year of service, but did not burn a year of contract.

Vanek said he'd want to play in austria, but insurance is the biggest questionmark right now.

Amerks, Juniors, and Europe are those who are going to play during the lockout. KHL-eligible just means that they can play there, not that they've decided to.

Pretty sure last lockout did burn a year off the contracts. Drury had a 4 year contract with us yet only played 3 years here.

Does he meet the list of stipulations the KHL just put out for NHL players though?

Well I stand corrected then. Could have sworn it was the other way.
Thanks for finding the reference.

From Canadian Press reporter Chris Johnston:
"German Christian Ehrhoff is expected to arrive in his hometown today, where he'll play for the Krefeld Penguins."

Looks like everything worked out for Krefeld re: insurance
