What if I tell you there's a lockout coming ?

He's not even playing in his country. He's not even close to his home. More than 2 day's of car. 6 hours of Plane..

I was going to say the same thing. Don't you think the lockout could've played a role in his decision?

Maybe he likes playing hockey even though he's a selfish lazy bum...

Too bad about him not sticking around. With a lockout looming, can't blame him for going to Russia.

Then why wouldn't he work something out to go to the KHL as a Plan B if and when there was a lockout?

Answer: because no one wanted him in the NHL.

The infatuation with this kid is incredible. This is what happens when you pull immature stunts in the middle of the playoffs. No one will touch you.

And before someone tries to claim he "was only an hour, no wait, only 45 minutes, no, no wait, he was only 30, wait wait, okay, he was only 15 minutes late coming back to the hotel!" try to remember you weren't there and your Be A GM and HFBoard Make Believe experience doesn't quite stack up to the amount of experience Trotz and Poile have in The Real World.

Minsk was reluctant to spend that much cap space on AK...

Stanislav Chistov is not happy, he's now been bumped to 2nd line.

He could've been an elite player if he didn't go out partying.

Good luck to AK, I think he'll do well there. I don't know how anyone can criticize him for this. Let me put it this way, if I was a professional working a good job in Russia, and I got locked out of my job in Russia for an indefinite period of time, then was offered a 1 year contract for solid money back home in Canada, you're damn straight I'd take that offer! Who knows if he comes back to the NHL in the future, but really who cares, I'm sure he'll be a solid player in either league (maybe even a star in the KHL).

Side note, Traktor should be a lot of fun to watch with both Kuznetsov and AK. What's the best way to catch KHL games from Canada? Is there way to pay for a legitimate streaming service, or is it only illegal streams? If there was a high quality legal streaming service, I'd probably pay for that during an NHL lockout, especially if guys like Malkin, Datsyuk, Semin, etc. sign there too.

If he waited, wouldn't he have signed up for the NHL lockout opt clause?

Obviously he's cool with spending at least 1 year playing in the KHL.

Great news! Now he can go out and not try in Russia. He should have signed in Oz, he might have found a heart. As a Habs fan I'm happy he's not coming back.

laola1.tv has legal streams of KHL games. It's a German site tho, so either Russian or no commentary.

btw its on demand so archived games.

To think all the discussions and arguments from Habs fans that saw him like he's God's gift to hockey in the Habs boards. That how we would regret losing him. First it was Perezhogin, then Sergei Kos and then his brother.

I'll say this though, if we put aside his lack of dedication, he'll put up 20 to 25 goals every year.

Traktor is one of the more horrible team names in the entire KHL...

And still be a Hab...

EDIT: Minsk has a strict policy on how high a player can have for a cap hit. Fine, they're a cap-floor team but Minsk doesn't sign anyone with a cap hit above $1M.

I'm actually amazed no NHL team picked him up. I think he would have been a good signing for someone.

Sure he's pretty dumb and has made mistake(and will likely redo them.) but **** it did Chelios never make any ?

At the end of the day it's Hockey teams of the NHL that are big losers. GM are getting their head driven by the media like in every other capitalist part of the world.

Damn media.

My vote for post of the year !!

A Kosty is where he deserves to be. He was lazy and played with zero heart. Just gives a chance for a NA player who wants to play.

he probably didn't sign because of the lockout and CBA uncertainty , i find it very hard to believe that no teams offered him anything.

Odd to see such incredible 1st line talent not even get an offer. I wonder if he will be on the first line on his new team.

Only a 1 yr contract, I think he will be back in N/A in the future.

Still not sure why we traded him. He is better than Bourque. Oh well, I hope the latter will prove me wrong.
