Doan doesn't want to come to Chicago, how are you going to blame that on Bowman?

It's clear family comes first, and his family nor his wifes family is from around Chicago.

Yeah, that's probably the case. I'd like to hear from Doan though, we should very soon. A lot of teams were interested. Probably nothing we could do but damn, that team is a lot better than us with him. It just really sucks.

The Nucks currently have a little over $2 million in cap space. Even if they trade Lou they'll still be pretty damn close to the cap. If they do trade Lou they are betting everything on Schneider who i wouldn't be surprised if he does well, but i also wouldn't be surprised to see him really struggle.

All of the reasons some Hawks fans didn't want to sign him are the same reasons some Vancouver fans dont want to sign him. We'll have to see what his contract looks like but the Nucks are not Cup favorites just because they add Doan.

No, but they don't seem concerned at all with the cap. It's a little odd. They have guys that they could move like Malhotra, Ballard, Raymond and of course Lu, but you have to find teams that want them.

Supposedly Doan was supposed to let them know by 3 EST

Burrows' signing was announced at like 3:15 EST

I'm getting the sense Doan's not going to Vancouver

Looks like the extension doesn't start until next season, so he'll make $2 mil this year still.

Shane Doan has signed a 4-year $21.2 million contract with $2 million in bonus money to remain with the Phoenix Coyotes.

Big surprise. Thanks for keeping us waiting, Shane.

We were playing Marco Polo with Shane and he went inside and watched a movie instead.

Lawl at Doan still getting 4 years despite never actually going to Free-Agency. 35-and-over contract and the dude's going to be 37 in October.

Thankfully Doan didn't go to Vancouver or Detroit. Next to coming here, staying put is the best option for us.
We'll never likely know ... but I think that $ 30 M price tag was erroneous from the get go.

Thankfully he's not going to be on the Hawks. I couldn't stand to see his continual oral/tongue machinations on every closeup shot every game.

I would have loved for him to go to Det or Van at that cost/term

Its a terrible contract

The contract would of been at least another million in average if he signed outside of PHX imo.

I see Doan signed for 4 yrs/21MM with the Coyotes. I thought he was for sure going to Vancouver because he is from BC and every player that ever comes from BC wants to play for the Canucks because Vancouver/BC is the awesomest place to live (apparently not).

I was hoping he would sign elsewhere because I don't believe we can beat the Coyotes with him on their team.

Ya, Shane Doan is the one that made all those ridiculous saves and knocked out Hossa.

No way man, we got Rozsival from them. Pretty clear he was the straw that stirred the drink down in Phoenix. They'll be lost without him.

I don't disagree, they were a bad match up for us. But to say Doan is THE reason is so false.

I can only repeat... I'm happy that Bowman wasn't that stupid to match that offer or offer way more than that
