Congratulations Coyote fans. I'm an Islander fan and I know what you've been going through (I follow this board for updates). Besides signing Doan it looks like things are looking up on the ownership issue and staying in Phoenix. I've been to Jobing.com arena quite a few times and I know what truly great fans the Yotes have!!!

Good luck on the coming season (if there is one).

So Jamison and skeete didnt talk today? Yeah, I guess a handshake "trade me immediately if..." agreement with Maloney is the most logical reason for Doan signing today.

No matter, we are where we were yesterday, but with Doan today. Big win.

Mouser, you have been around long enough to know that whatever I put in my avatar is a HUGE curse. It's why i chose a long dead smoking, alcoholic monkey.

Had Nate Hagemo - turned into meth addicted armed robber

Had deftones - bass player fell into coma and is still a borderline vegetable

Had soulfly - broke up a milkion times, just one original memeber making terrible music

Had boysetsfire - guitar player fell off of a building frame, became paralyzed, band broke up

Had Nick Petrecki - fell from top five to 28th overall, and five years later is yet to play an NHL game

Had Nick Boynton - "new" NHL ruined career, made him waiver fodder, borderline NHLer

Had Keith Ballard - traded for Jokinen, and career went to total ****

Had Jokinen - had a terrible stint with phoenix and careeer never got truly back on track

Had Daymond Langkow - mom died, season fell off a cliff, still without NHL contract

There were many, shorter lived avatars that suffered lesser misfortunes. My avatar is a complete and total curse. Users who have been around long enough may recall. I can't ever put Doan as my avatar.

Well, there's that one whiny center you seem to dislike, if you catch my drift...

Had him all ms painted up to look like waldo from wheres waldo. Hopefully the lingering effects will destroy him.

Also occurs to me that I once had an avatar called teenage Mueller ninja Turris where the two kids were super imposed on the ninja turtles. Both washed out as Coyotes. Also had a great Dan Carcillo avatar and a good josh gratton one. Where are they now? Also once had Mitch Fritz. He eventually got a Coyotes contract, but never stuck.

From now on, only deceased, vice ridden simians.

Not sure I'm buying it. If you're so darn good with cursing players I want an explanation why David Hale lasted as long as he did?

* Love the Deftones btw

Anyone shee the new Dushtin Brown commershl? Itsh hilarioush.

I know I shouldn't make fun of someone's speech impediment because I'm an adult and it is in extremely poor taste. But I hate him so much and the fact that he speaks EXACTLY like Sylvester the poody tat makes me laugh every time. I can't help it. I don't laugh at the general manager of the Sens who has the same problem and I didn't laugh at dustin brown prior to this last season. Now, I find it hilarious.

*PHEW*

Thrilled to see Doaner staying with the Coyotes. It would've sucked seeing him leave. Him, Yandle, Michalek, DeMo, and Hanzal are my last ties to the team from my AZ days.

Neither here nor there, but Vince Marotta really should be on the radio. Sports radio around here is a wasteland since his last show went off the air.

Good read. Adds a lot of perspective to why this played out how it did.

Shane Doan doesn’t regret staying with the Phoenix Coyotes, even though last year’s questions remain unanswered

Quote:
Last summer, Doan became a coveted free agent while waiting to determine his future and if it involved the Coyotes. His off-season was rife with doubt, hesitation and family-related adversity, but, ultimately, Doan wanted to stay.

That’s a choice he doesn’t regret despite still not knowing the franchise’s permanent location.

“I’m very happy,” he said. “It’s one of those things I knew what I was getting in to, and in the end it was the right decision for me and my family. Obviously I’d love for the uncertainty to be done, but I’m hoping that we can get everything taken care of and this could be a great spot. I still believe that.”
---

Tippett will be without a contract July 1, and Smith becomes an unrestricted free agent July 5.

“I don’t envy their decision,” Doan said. “My hope is that both of them will sign back here, and nothing would make me happier.”

Doan crossed paths with Smith in Vancouver 10 days ago and even though both were surrounded by their families, Doan couldn’t help making a soft pitch.
