Among the flurry of signings the last few days, Doan has just re-signed in PHX. Good for them.

Think any team is going to be claims on any of these guys?

Curious, you'd think the owners would forbid that.

Zach Boychuk

He would look good in Blue and White.

There is still upside there, especially for a team that lacks a lot of skilled forwards.

If true, just go to show how well our rebuild has been going.

Besides we wouldn't be able to claim him anyway.

Lucic signs a 3 year contract extension, 3 years 18 million (6 million cap hit)

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=405318

A little expensive if you ask me, but there is no other player like him in the league

I overheard on a hockey tonight that the B's may have to give up Krejci in order to make the new contracts fit. Especially, if the cap was put back down. How many teams would have to give up key parts to work with the cap.

That depends on what the cap is in the new CBA. Boston isn't really doing themselves any favours right now but I'm not an NHL GM.

NHL lockout: Edmonton Oilers eye Seattle

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey...rs-eye-seattle

Quote:
EDMONTON—With plans for a new arena in doubt, the Edmonton Oilers say they are considering a move to Seattle.

Oilers owner Daryl Katz, team president Patrick LaForge and Kevin Lowe, president of hockey operations, are in Seattle for meetings about a possible relocation to the city.

The Oilers said in a statement that while they hope to reach a deal with Edmonton on a new arena, the team is also listening to proposals from a number of potential markets.

I doubt that it happens. Imagine all that struggling, drafting some of the best young talent, and as soon as they're about the mature into stars, the team moves. My blood would boil.

It gives them legit leverage, though (even if Bettman would rather keep Seattle as an out for one of his struggling franchises - Isles, Panthers, Devils...? Then Detroit and Columbus to the East?).

Just a matter of time before a deal is struck in Edmonton on a new arena - with a significant chunk of public money. I'll be astounded if the city doesn't knuckle under.

Touche. Good lord, what a team that was. In this case, I think they're just trying to put the pressure on via the media. Blowin' smoke.

Since there's no NHL, might as well get some highlights from other leagues.

Matt Dumba's off to a rough start. Already throwing around controversial hits. It's difficult to tell, but you be the judge. I say it's clean, don't think his arm hit the head. Was given 5 and a game at the time. The league is reviewing it.

Really a heartbreaking story
Quote:
Step after clunky step, Bob Francis arrives for his morning workout.

He grits his teeth. He jerks his walker forward, followed by an awkward swing of the leg.

His body has atrophied. His balance and equilibrium are gone.

The former Coyotes coach can no longer stand on his own two feet.

Onlookers at a Scottsdale health club try not to stare. But his determination is both inspiring and heartbreaking. Especially for those who recognize the face, the mustache, the man who was once named best coach in the NHL.

“People here, they’re all curious,” said Francis, 53. “They don’t want to ask, but they want to know: Were you in a serious car accident? Do you have MS (multiple sclerosis)? Do you have brain function problems?

“It’s a long process trying to explain everything. No, I wasn’t in a serious car accident. No, I’m not dying. I wish I had an explanation.”

Looking at the withered coach, it’s easy to believe in cursed hockey franchises. Francis is a recovering alcoholic who lost his first wife and his career. As a player, he suffered too many concussions to count, likely triggering his current condition.

Now, he is searching for answers, struggling to regain some quality of life, pushing that walker down the jagged path of life.

“As many times as I’ve cursed this walker out, the truth is, I need it,” Francis said. “If I’m not leaning on something, I’m down.

Henrique said he wants to be a leader for Albany and "pass on what I've learned" playing for Devils last year.

Might not be a star but these talks make me like a kid like him.

I was just told by my KHL source that, having secured the US broadcast rights, the League is now working on a Canada TV deal.

Yes Plz.

This is what should really be pushing the owners and the NHLPA to get a deal done.
