Is Winnipeg a better team after this deal?

Should have specified that in the OP, although not sure if this is the place to put it.

In NHL 13, the team that gets Malkin wins.

IRL, I think Winnipeg is worse off after this deal--now and in the future.

yeah i should have posted this in fantasy games but theres not always a lot of action

im the gm of pittsburgh and i gave up malkin in the deal. i dont have trouble with scoring and i was looking for more 2nd line depth and a good d.

Are they though?

Kane - Crosby - Wheeler
Kunitz - Sutter - Neal
Dupuis - Jeffrey - Kennedy
Cooke - Vitale - Glass

Orpik - Letang
Martin - Bogosian
Niskanen - Engelland

They'd be relying very heavily on Crosby and if he went down then there would be serious trouble. Only one of Neal and Kane would end up on the top PP unit with Crosby so they'd see there numbers go down. Isn't Bogosian injured right now to?

Personally I don't think they're better, maybe if they still had Staal you could make that argument.

Thanks for the heads up on it being a fantasy league proposal. Bogo, Kane & Wheeler are all on there way up. Bogo is big time under rated and will be something special once he puts it all together. However he is out until approx January after wrist surgery. In the real world without those 3 the 1st would also be a lottery pick.

Evgeni Malkin vs WPG, it's more real.

No doubt Malkin is the best player, but unless he can play 30 mins a game and never gets hurt and resigns with the Jets they will be worse off in real life. Bogo, Kane and Wheeler represent 3 of their 5 best players. Those 3 will still all be RFA in 2 years (based on current CBA) the 1st will likely have been a top 10 and possibly a lottery pick in a strong draft year. Malkin on the other hand will be an UFA who will go to the highest bidder, who almost certainly won't be the Jets. How are we better off? Malkin without our 2 best wingers and future top pairing d-man does not make us a contender. 2 years from now we are likely a much worse team.

He didn't say Winnipeg would better of, he said that Penguins wouldn't be.
