Way, way to early to evaluate this. Especially the draft.
Everything does look quite good on paper though.

Too early to make any kind of real judgement, but so far so good in my books.

You put Michel Therrien in the "good moves" list?

He failed to prevent a lockout. Bad GM is bad.

Yeah, because Michel Therrien is very good coach, have more experience than Patrick Roy and is looks like Bob Hartley but is not pro-Halak or what ever.
Gerard Gallant is very great assisting for Therrien...
J.J Daigneault have coaching : Ryan McDonagh, Dan Giradi in the AHL.
Very good coaching staff.

He's doing a great job so far IMO. Needs to sign Subban ASAP though.

The D squad is one knee away from being a crappy one (Emelin still needs seasoning on the 3rd pairing... especially if they ask him to play right D; Diaz, Saint-Denis and Weber are redundant) and, as highlighted by Bourque’s injury, we seriously lack depth upfront. A "popular" question last season was "Who will be Plekanec’s wingers "... well here we are in September 2012 and... who will be his wingers?
Rome was not built in a day and, as most posters in here, I like 90%+ of our new GM moves so far but Bergevin needs to address the two years old (since The Stabilizer Hamrlik’s departure) issue of our redundant and crappy D squad. Expecting more than 40 games played by Markov would be like planning the upcoming season by flipping a coin.
If he can fix our D, he would be freakin great!

Too early to say.
Made some nice staff selections, picked a bad coach but probably the best of a bad lot, resigned most of the FAs to nice deals but the Subban issue is worrying, his only credit with the draft was not undermining Timmins (which is a good thing), brought in some decent role players from FA including overpaying for the perfect compliment to our bottom 6 in Prust but failed to address any of the more serious issues with this team.
Ask again in 2 years.

You can't just release a player in the NHL.

There's no NHL season, why would we waive him?

The discrepancy between how much **** Gauthier got and how much credit Bergevin gets for doing essentially the same thing is amazing.
Never change habs fans, never change.

Yah but Bergevin isn't a vegan.
All that aside, there's not much I can complain about expect Boullion, Therrien and the Price contract.

And Bergevin doesn't call his players mister. Quel dommage!
The Price contract is as much a win for Price/his agent as any. Bouillon is a low-key filler signing that the Jacques Martin era was known for and Therrien is by no means a notable signing.
Bergevin hasn't done anything, I can't rate him at all but other Habs fans seem to think he's god. I dunno why, I really can't see it.

Competent until proven incompetent.
Bergevin has a clean slate and a hopeful fanbase nothing more.
