I am beginning to wonder if this means there will be no rollback on current contracts, in light of all of these signings.

Solid deal! He was underrated for a while. Last playoffs he showed what he can do.

Don't know much about him... Does he compare to a guy like Josh Gorges? If so, nice deal for the Preds.

He is, for almost but not quite unjustified reasons. Klein is one of those guys that I like to refer to as "95/5 players" - i.e. 5% of the time (every once in a while) there's some high profile "oops" that earns them a hatedom... but 95% of the time (the vast majority of the time) they're Invisibly Awesome. Fedor Tyutin over here is much the same way. They're great for the second pairing, and if you find them the right partner who can anticipate and compensate for the 5% (like we may have with Tyutin and Nikitin) you can get amazing things.

IMO this is an absolutely fantastic deal for which Poile should be heartily congratulated.

I remember when Klein and Hamhuis were both up for free Agency I wanted Klein to sign in Van. Guy is a solid if not spectacular Dman.
Klein will make less than Bryan Allen, and I'd take Klein everyday of the week

Klein is a stay-at-home type defenseman who plays his best hockey when his partner is adept at moving the puck. That is Klein's biggest weakness IMO. If you can get an aggressive forechecker to bury Klein deep in his own end with the puck there is a good chance you can force a mistake. Otherwise, he is a very good defensive defenseman. He is one of the best skaters on the team. He isn't going to blow people up with hits, but he will use his body effectively. He has sound positioning. He isn't afraid to block shots, and seems to bounce back quickly when he catches a puck wrong or in an area that is usually sensitive to injuries. Good team guy, too.

The difference in Klein and Hamhuis isn't all that great, at least not their last couple of seasons in NSH. Hamhuis is better, but I'm not sure if he's almost 2m dollars better.

great deal, you only hope that when you give a guy a 5 year contract that it doesnt change the way he plays, knowing he can get comfortable. i have no idea if he is that type of person but the Preds sure like him. good signing, especially for the price.

Great guy who legitimately loves the city of Nashville and our team. Bit of a sweetheart deal imo. I will still drop at least a dozen "KLEIN WTF ARE YOU DOING!" comments at various points in the year (assuming we have any games), but he's pretty solid and I thought he was much better last year.

As a former Klein basher, he has won me over with his quiet, but solid play last year. Great deal when compared to today's market. Good job Poile.

This is a great deal, cannot believe he was that cheap. I know he has had some rough times down there but he seems to have really rounded the corner. It is pretty fair value now, but in years three, four and five of this deal he is going to be criminally underpaid in my opinion. Nashville does it again, just a such a well run organization.

I love Klein. He is one of the more underrated D in the game. Solid guy who can skate and keeps his head up too.

Great signing.

a solid deal IMO as it also gives the preds ample time to see who they can replace as prospect are going to step up with suter moved.

Was hoping to see Klein a Duck soon, guess that won't happen now other than in NHL 13...

Yikes. My current favorite Pred on my least favorite team? Head would've exploded.
