Kamensky, it's amazing to think that he'll play tommorow in Croatia for Russia's veteran stars in this ancient Roman arena in Pula:

how is liles not leading. Most games played for avs behind Sakic, Forsberg, Foote and Duke. 6th all time for points in this franchise and most points for a defenceman. Kamensky played 4 years with the avs

8 seasons with the franchise, some of the most fantastic goals you will ever see anybody score and big-time playoff production. Yes, his overall point totals don't wow but they don't begin to do justice to the talent...which was immense when you take into account his glittering career with the legendary CSKA and Russian national teams (don't forget he didn't come to the NHL until he was 26 and was 30 by the time his first season in Denver ended (85 point regular season, 22 points in the playoffs and a Cup).

Yes, some of the Val legend is based on "what could have been" because had his career started 10 years later, he'd have been an NHL star by age 20 or 21 and would have put up some monster numbers. But that, combined with what he actually did do is more than enough for me and some others here.

Imagine if Val didn't break his leg and hurt his ankle before coming over, his speed took a hit with those injuries and it was his calling card.

Watching his old games for USSR sends chills down my spine, he was pure magic on the ice.

Imagine if Tyler Arnason had a shot, knew how to pass, and could skate well. He could have been a hall of famer. Surprised he's not in the top 3 here.

I agree with you at 100% , he got injured b4 coming to the Nordiques , he was still a good player but not as great as people told us he would be. I remember one of the first game Kamenski played with the Nords , he played with Nolan and Sundin , those 3 were on fire .

but the poll isn't for the franchise. It's for the avs, not nordiques. I'm just surprised people don't show appreciation for guys like liles, tanguay and staz who have all done much more in denver than val has.

How in the world have I not heard of this until now? I feel kinda stupid for asking but is it for real?

[never mind...I just searched for and went to the IIHF website and saw it there. Holy crap...something like that needs to be promoted on any website or TV channel that covers the NHL because anyone checking those for news on hockey are probably also a fan of hockey in general. Blows my mind how much great hockey stuff that happens in world and I don't find out about it until after the fact. I only have so much time a day I can spend looking stuff up on the internet and because I'm mostly an AVs fan and then a Nanook (CCHA team) fan...I usually only hit sites that covers those teams. I guess I need to add IIHF's site to my regular list of sites to check periodically...are there any others I should put on the list as well? I normally hit this place, the Denver Post, the UAF website for the 'Nooks, and TSN.]

Tough decision between Deadmarsh and Kamensky. Went with Deadmarsh.

Add Lappy.

Because at the end of the day, he's still Liles. An overrated player who was a liability defensively. Bourque did more for the franchise than Liles even though he played less than 100 regular season games with the Avs.

Seph, you do realize that Lappy is easily one of the most popular Av players ever right? How do you keep leaving him off? You guys from opposite ends of the tracks, and have a rumble every summer or something?

I add the player based on what you the posters tell me to add. Paul Stastny name turned up more times than Lappy's name did last thread (so blame the Avs community, hahah) But don't worry because I am very, very sure I will be adding him on #8.

Lots of fond memories of Kamensky with that line with Forsberg & Lemieux.

It's a toss up between him and Ozolinsh.

Let's not forget most Avs fans HATED Lappy before he came here. He was awesome to have, but it was very weird rooting for him when he first came.
