This X 1000. Anyways Weber can not be traded and is locked up for 14 years. Why traded him in his prime?? He's not going anywhere for at least 5 years.

- B. Schenn
- Cooter
- ++

So... Nashville trades the best player in the deal, but still has to take a salary dump from Vancouver (Ballard)? I like Gardiner, but he isn't worth Weber. The rest doesn't interest me at all. Ballard, another center prospect, and two late firsts? Forgive me if I don't faint from excitement.

Look, another Luongo trade by a Canucks fan where they shovel him off to another team and hope to get back VASTLY superior players. What a shocker

No, **** no. Why would Nashville want a goalie? Why would Nashville want Gardiner when they have Ellis and Josi?

Nashville doesn't get a goalie...It's a package mainly based on futures, which isn't what the Predators are looking for right now, I suppose.

Even if Nashville were looking for futures, that package is not going to get you Weber.

I think BFC read "Schroeder" as "Schneider"

change Ballard to edler, Schroeder to Kassian/Jensen, add to Luongo and then it stops looking so overly horribad. Doubt it would still get done but it's a bit insulting of a proposal to have so many very small pieces for arguably the best d man in the league. Just my .02

Nashville gives up weber for edler, Gardiner, Kassian and the 1sts

To be fair, it's better than 4 1sts from Philly

But still, Weber is the face of your franchise, there's no reason you should be giving him up unless you actually wanted to rebuild.

Now the only thing holding up the deal is that Toronto will NEVER give up Gardiner for Luongo, let alone adding picks

very true an although I said that I doubt it would happen, but we would have to end somethning of relative significance to Tor as well as luongo for it to be considered.

At this point, it becomes far less appealing as a Canucks fan which probably means that it is getting close to fair value

Right, but four firsts from Philly would've been the mandatory return for an RFA Weber signed to an offer sheet. We're talking about Weber signed to a 14 year deal, and he can't be traded until ~25% of that deal is paid. Once Weber is able to be traded the real money in his contract is going to be reduced greatly, and he will still have 13 years. His value is going to be among the highest in the league.

I'm not picking on you here. I promise. I know what you meant with your post, and I agree that he won't be moved unless there are extreme circumstances. It just seems like a lot of people are looking at Weber as a player that Nashville is going to have to move once they can, which I think is absurd, and they are using this silly idea to lower his value. The bottom line is the guy has no NTC or NMC, he is signed long term and it is entirely up to Poile as to what happens to him in the future (unless ownership intervenes, of course). If he is ever traded there will definitely be a bidding war, and his would be pretty high. The Predators hold all of the leverage with a superstar for once in their history.

Nashville can not trade Weber for at least 1 year so that fact already doesn't make this trade happen.

Toronto wins this deal easily.

Nasville loses.

Vancouver downgrades their roster.

Actually if you just remove Toronto from the trade it becomes a lot better.

VAN:
Weber

Nashville:

VAN 1st
VAN 2nd
Ballard (replacement for Komisarek if they want )

Of course Nashville still loses out IMO.

MacA + 2nd is probably where Luongo's trade value is right now, so don't see how this is a huge Toronto win

Vancouver downgrades their roster? They get Weber for Kesler (of their roster players) Don't see how that is a downgrade for any team.

How does removing Toronto from this trade make it "A LOT BETTER"?

Kessler = Kessler
Van 1st = Van 1st
Tor 2nd > Van 2nd
Komisarek = (maybe <) Ballard

Because losing Luongo for Mac + 2nd is a huge downgrade.

Would much rather roll with Schneider/Luongo as a tandem.

Why would Vancouver be interested in another defenseman? They already have a solid 4 of Edler, Hamhuiis, Bieksa and Garrison. I don't see them making a move for Weber. Vancouver doesn't have many holes to fill, certainly not on D.

Yeah I agree. I still don't do that. Poile could get better I think.
