It's been so long, I don't really remember, but were the Roadrunners games picked up by Sportsnet in 2004?

I don't think so, but there would be alot less interest in that team to this one, imo.

I think they did a few games. I don't actually remember but there are some clips on youtube where Quinn and Ferarro are calling the game.

We might see that record fall this season if RNH and Eberle are healthy all year, if Hall plays 60 games with them and on the same line then I'd bet that it would fall. RNH, Eberle, Paajarvi, Arcobello, Hartikainen, J. Schultz, and Fedun should = one hell of an offensive team.

One of the great benefits is going to be to have an extended experiment with Paajarvi on the wing with RNH and Eberle.

Let's see if Magnus can elevate and be productive with those two. Ditto Hartikainen.

you guys might be getting ahead of yourselves with this whole what's the all-time record for points and whatnot.

I know it sounds crazy, but I don't think they'll be putting intense points or anything. Obviously I'm expecting at least PPG for Ebs and RNH, but you never know.

I just hope these guys don't get hurt. The AHL is a physical league.

Yeah. I don't think a record season is in the cards. It's going to be a really deep talented team. It won't be a team like Hershey where two players(Alex Giroux and Keith Aucoin) carry the team offensively.

There's probably close to ten forwards with the ability to pot 40+ points. It'll be pretty tough for RNH or Eberle to put up ~140 points unless OKC is scoring like 10 goals a game.

If the record is 138 then that's a hell of a pile of points, we're talking 1.725 points per game over 80 games to tie. That said when was the last time that we've seen a duo or trio this potentially dynamic in the AHL? IMO it was Perry, Getzlaf, and Penner. So let's see what they did:

Perry 19gp. 16-18-34 1.790ppg
Projection over 80 games 143 points

Getzlaf 17gp. 8-25-33 1.941ppg
Projection over 80 games 155 points

Penner 57gp. 39-45-84 1.474ppg
Projection over 80 games 118 points

Same season in the NHL

Perry 56gp. 13-12-25
Getzlaf 57gp. 14-25-39
Penner 19gp. 4-3-7

Their next season in the NHL

Perry 82gp. 17-27-44
Getzlaf 82gp. 25-33-58
Penner 82gp. 29-16-45

Then you have RNH and Eberle:

Eberle 78gp. 34-42-76
RNH 62gp. 18-34-52

Eberle's last AHL stint:
11gp. 6-8-14 1.273ppg

Eberle is a MUCH better player than he was the last time he was in the AHL with career AHLers like Chris Minard, Charles Linglet, etc. Now he gets to play with a guy like RNH and guys like Schultz and to a lesser extent Paajarvi.

Spezza went for 80gp. 32-85-117 (1.4625ppg) with the second leading scorer being Denis Hamel with 78 points. I don't see why our duo couldn't reach that kind of production or close to it on their own without having the other guy there to pad their stats. If both are there all year and stay healthy, IMO they should surpass Spezza's mark at the very least. If Linus Omark can be a 1ppg player in the AHL there is no way anyone can tell me that these guys aren't at least 1.5ppg guys.

Whats the deal with Rajala? Im guessing this is his last year of the ELC and he (among others) could play in either OKC or Stockton depending how he goes in camp?

Is he planning on coming to North America this season? I haven't been following him.

Apparently. In his prospects thread it was mentioned that he didn't sign in Finland and was planning on playing in the AHL. He does have a contract with us.

I was a big supporter of this pick once upon a time. I'll be interested in seeing how he does as a North American pro this season.

I respect that he has to at least see how he stacks up in North America but realistically, he probably doesn't stand a chance. He would need elite offensive skill to overcome his size and play in the NHL. Hopefully he just shows enough to get a deal in Russia or Sweden. He just needs to go where he can make the most money.

I hope Curtis Hamilton can get back on track. So far I'm not even sure if he's on the roster on paper. Hopefully he has a great season somewhere.

There was a time when I thought he was a surefire NHLer, 3rd or 4th liner... decent defensively, big body, decent hands and such... he seems to have fallen off a cliff and has no physical game to speak of to make for an interesting/hopeful grinder. Took a step back Last year. Hopefully he can get back on track.

All that I know is that his development is more important than playing a guy like Josh Green IMO. Unless he sucks and belongs in the ECHL I'd think that he gets a regular shift this season in OKC. If he starts in the ECHL stacked team or not, that is not a promising sign.

I agree, I'm hoping this is a good developement year for some of the prospects we have in the AHL.

Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Eberle
Hartikainen - Lander - Paajarvi
Hamilton - Arcobello - Pitlick
Byers - Vande Velde - Rajala/Cornet

Schultz - Teubert
Marincin - Fedun
Davidson - Plante

Danis
Roy

Don't waste a good year for developement.

Oh yeah! I was able to make it to my first Barons game back in February and have been planning on hitting a couple more this upcoming season. After seeing the news yesterday that the Oilers sent RNH and Eberle down, its become a priority to hit a game up next month and see these guys play live. I can't wait.

I am actually jealous of OKC.

I mean they get to watch some of the best young NHL players at AHL cost.

They deserve it. I personally respect the OKC fans so much and appreciate that they go to the games.

This is what they should have done all along. Put him in a roster spot he will succeed in rather then play him with Hemsky or Belanger who did very poorly last year.

I talked to my ticket person today while I was at the fair. And the players are slated to report on Sept 29th. She said that Camp would start around Oct 1st.

I did see that Josh Green(@greendogg12) is already making the trip to OKC per his twitter post.

I've been seeing lots of people wondering, and I haven't come across an answer.

Is there actually a guarantee that Hall can go down once his injury is done, or did he miss his chance altogether?

I had a beer league pickup last night and it appeared that I was the only one there who knew what was going down with ye olde Barons. I tried to get the word out. People got excited. As I am.

That said I can't see any record breaking point totals coming from any of these guys. Nelson's scheme just isn't going to allow for it. He rolls all 4 lines and demands so much defensively from his forwards...individual high point totals don't seem that likely. That's not to poo-poo these guys...Eberle is almost certainly going to be the best player in the AHL, RNH and Schultz are not far behind him. The Barons might be the best hockey team in the world. Maybe.

If they all stay here the whole season I think I'd put Eberle at 40/60 and RNH at 30/60..but both will be +30/40. Plus I bet they have a great time as OKC is an awesome place to live. High fives all around.
