Here are the top 20 submissions so far as listed on the PEI Rocket web site. They'll continue to go by the PE or PEI prefix and not Charlottetown.

•Abbies
•Chiefs
•Confederates
•Coyotes
•Cyclones
•Highlanders
•Icebreakers
•Islanders
•Jr./Junior Islanders
•Mariners
•Pacers
•Phantoms
•Pirates
•Predators
•Prince Edward Islanders
•Reds
•Riptides
•Royals
•Thunder
•Wave

There are a few mind boggling choices there IMO but a few choices that have potential (Riptides, Icebreakers). I think they should go completely out of the box and come up with something unique to PEI. Let's not use something already used by another sports team in North America.

I like your idea about the red sand...
How about Red Sand Rangers?

The red color that the Montreal Junior used reminds me of the red dirt in PEI. I'd like to see something similar to that.

Either that or an Orange and Green scheme would be pretty unique and cool.

The white PEI jersey is one of the best in the league. If you take out the logo.

I still like my Prince Edward Islanders idea, though PEI Riptides is my choice if they want to pick a name that's not prominently used by a pro team already.

That's an interesting opinion.

Rocket Jersey design is the Reebok edge default. Its the design given to a team too lazy to change it I can only imagine. Same design as both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators, just color swapped and that Reebok piping added.

Actually look at the Victoriaville Tigre's yellow sweaters... same design to the last detail, only thing that's different is the damn color.

Does being unoriginal make it bad by default? Well.. maybe not, but.... it sure doesn't help.

After tallying the results of over 5000 total entries, including almost 500 new name suggestions, the team has announced that the three names with the most submissions are:
- The PEI Confederation
- The PEI Islanders
- The PEI Riptide (my vote)

If you want to vote go to www.peirocket.com/rename_your_team. Voting closes Wednesday, September 19 at 5 pm.

So.... the Prince Edward Island Islanders?

Way to screw up on the obviously superior naming for that one.

I vote Riptide as well.... though the plurals Riptides sounds better, too.

Yea I as well am disappointed to find they didn't go with the clearly better Prince Edward Islanders. I also don't like how they went with Confederation instead of Confederates. I feel like they screwed this up really quickly. It's unfortunate. They had some really good options imo.

Should have called them The Charlottetown Jr. Islanders ! Any hockey fan from PEI knows they are a City team as they should be . Trying to work the name PEI in the scheme of things is just marketing and it makes the name look stupid and I do not live in Charlottetown either .

I beleive they get money from the province for advertising so that is why they stuck with the PEI rather than the charlottetown name

Will the slogan be changed from "Your Island Team" to "Your redundant Team"?
