Yes, it's only above 20 percent what's prohibited. Beer is safe (otherwise the government wouldn't probably survive the protests lol). As for the questionable ban, I'm on the same boat with you - a few years ago I saw a host talking about prohibition on some late night show who said it pretty accurately: "Making something illegal always stops its use. What force is stronger than a citizen's desire to follow the law? "

Anyway, a lockout coming a day after that certainly didn't help much. At least when I make a 4 hour train ride I might get to see Jagr hopefully.

Back to topic: Considering how "productive" the negotiations have been lately, I don't even want to think about how long this lockout perioud can be...
I work in Kuwait, alcohol is banned here. I know people who sell it here illegally, but it's ****ing expensive, and they have a very, very limited selection. They mostly sell JD or and some other brands of Vodka, and it's usually about $250+ for a bottle. That's the price I could spend on some really decent whiskey. So it's not worth spending it on JD and Vodka (and not a fan of either anyway). And the local beer they make here is ****ing ****. ****ing sucks man.

Might be home for Christmas, so, maybe the wait won't be that long. But still

some pretty candid comments from Laich.
Caps players have given out some of the best interviews this offseason, between this and Neuvirth's little deal.

I apologize as this has probably been answered a thousand times already, but I am short on time right now.

1) Will Phantoms games be available through cable at all? (I heard you can watch them online, if this is the case, how much is it and what quality is it? HD?)

2) Can we get a thread going with each roster player and where he will be playing this year? We can also keep track of stats etc there with a last updated timestamp...

Just a few questions, thanks! If I can only watch Phantoms games online, I'd like to hopefully get them in HD and push them through my projector to watch on a big screen... I hope that will work! Coots and Schenn!

1) There probably will be some on CSN philly this year. As for the streams, all I have seen have not been HD

2) Good idea

Brennan Klak ‏@nhlupdate
Lockout signings: Gonchar, Malkin to Metallurg, Jagr, Plekanec to HC Kladno, Ponikarovsky and Fedotenko to Donbass

Brennan Klak ‏@nhlupdate
Also seems that UFA Pavel Kubina has signed with HC Vitkovice, I believe his deal is a one year deal

Christian Ehrhoff is officially back with his hometown team, the Krefeld Penguins of the DEL!

Jagr and Plekanec are confirmed to play for Kladno, starting on wensday.

Fedotenko and Ponikarovsky sign with Donbass (KHL).

Pavel Datsyuk has signed with Ak Bars. Not surprising. His old team #RedWings

Kaspars Daugavins to play with Dinamo Riga in the KHL.

More KHL info: Antropov will be joining Barys Astana, Loktionov will join Atlant, and Kulemin to join Malkin & Gonchar in Magnitogorsk.

Mora of the Swedish tier II... pretty nice signing for them. They signed Anze's kid brother Gasper this summer. Last time around they first signed Marcel Hossa and then got Marian on board as well. Could be a plan for teams to consider the next time the CBA is about to expire...

Ilya Kovalchuk will apparently play for SKA St Petersburg.

The Swedish Competition Authority will look into the SEL decision to decline any NHL players on short-term contracts. The SEL's contract with the players union doesn't include any bans on such contracts, so the decision might be repealed.

@TheFourthPeriod
Sounds like Nikolai Kulemin (TOR) will finalize a deal with Metallurg soon, and Michal Handzus (SJ) will join Banska Bystrica in Slovakia 3 hours ago

@TheFourthPeriod
Calgary Flames RW Jiri Hudler is finalizing a deal to play for HC Lev Praha, the KHL's club in Prague.

@TheFourthPeriod
Reports in Switzerland indicate Yannick Weber, Raphael Diaz, Luca Sbisa & Jonas Hiller will be joining teams in Swiss National League

Brodeur has been telling people he can’t believe how much money both the Maple Leafs and the Blackhawks were offering him this summer — somewhere in the neighbourhood of two years, $16 million — be he chose to take far less and remain in New Jersey .

What, are they expecting the lockout to last at least the whole season?

Someone tweeted they will be making payments for your money back at the end of every month. I don't think they are just going to give it all back in one lump sum. I think a couple of our beat writers tweeted it. I don't think they believe it will be the whole year canceled, but anything can happen here. I'll try to find the tweet.

Here we go, Tim P. just tweeted this article.

Season tickets holders have been given two options. They can earn 2 percent interest on any monies they’ve already applied to their account or they can get monthly refunds on games missed.
Also the Wild are offering 10% interest to keep the money in their accounts.

The fact that they have to offer interest to keep the STH's around doesn't help the players at all. Just gives the owners justification to swing the HRR% more in their favor.
