Since training cards are useless, I think I'll just try to stack up my team with players that are all 90+ in skating. What forwards are 90+ skating? I'll name off the ones I know of off the top of my head but I'm sure there's more:
So if i understand this correctly......players now have no set career length in HUT, and training cards only last one game. So that should mean that 80 game contracts are worthless as well, and that player cards should be selling for a lot more, but they will never see their salary hit go up?
Why does EA keep changing the system just as people are getting used to it? the way HUT was run last year was fine, it's supposed to be about collecting players and training them up the way you want.
I better get in a fun EASHL team and/or Be A GM Connected league to enjoy this game. (xbox 360 for those who don't already know)
Yep, I was looking forward to continuing to build my teams by training up prospects rather than going after expensive NHLers. I liked last year's HUT a hell of a lot better. Was gonna do a top line of Phillips, Huberdeau, and Jurco but that won't happen now. Only new addition I really like is how you can change the team of a player to increase chemistry.
Finally got my PS3 running and downloaded the demo.
The new lighting is much, much better. You don't notice how dated the player models are. It's fantastic.
The new skating feels extremely sluggish. But every NHL game feels slow to me. I always crank the play speed all the way up.
The AI is still hit and miss...much better overall but sometimes guys would skate in WAY offsides, like 20-30 feet.
Scored on my first shot, then not again for maybe 50 shots. Too easy to walk in on the goalie but they are far too difficult to score on.
Why isn't there a short-term fatigue/recovery effect for the goalies? I think if they have to make 2-3 highlight saves in under 10 seconds, they should get so tired and be out of position and you can score easier. In real life, rebounds are a hell of a lot harder for goalies. Just a thought.
I wouldn't mind buying the game but have no money. Maybe when golf season dies down.
Goalie rating in this game (at least for my playstyle) is incredibly important apparently. Playing with Ottawa (for our league) Anderson is just awful. Simply doesn't make saves. A lot of the time, he just seems to let shots go without making an attempt on them. While practicing in Play Now with the Wild, Backstrom rarely gets scored on by just a shot. Every goal is either a breakaway with a good move, or it's a buried rebound. Playing in HUT, I got stuck with Ty Conklin as a goalie and he leans far more towards the Backstrom end of the sphere.
