Apparently karlsson wants to play in djurgården but their gm says they will take native djurgårdare first if they sign any nhlers. Odds are karlsson is going to frölunda.

The best player in the world at his position wants to play for your team, what do you do? Reject him!

i thought the whole point was that allsvenskan teams were taking guys on contracts with out-clauses, and SEL teams were not. If frolunda was giving karlsson a contract with an out-clause i'm sure he'd prefer to go there.

Well there's been talk about allowing nhlers in elitserien. Some seem confident that the league will change their decision. I think karlsson favoring djurgården has more to do with him not wanting to betray frölunda if the nhl resumes later in the season. Suppose djurgården being a stockholm team adds some weight as well.

My brother talked to Cowen and Turris the other day.

Cowen said hes probably going to play in Bingo, although he really doesn't want to.

Turris said hes going to just keep training and try to get bigger and stronger. No plans for the lock-out yet.

Cowen will definitely play for Bingo (not probably) and even if he doesn't really want to, he doesn't have a say in the matter. Tough teets Jared, suck it up.

Being as though some of the huge names coming down to the AHL this year, we will need Cowen in the AHL to shut down some of these lines. Adirondack got scary with Couturier and Schenn. Rochester has Hodgson, Foligno, and Adam. Charlotte got Skinner, Albany got Henrique. Portland OEL, Rundblad. Bridgeport got Hamonic and Neiderider.

League is going to be tough this year.

Does Gonchar bother coming back if the lockout ends in December or later?

well, he has to or he's in breach of contract - suspended by the sens, likely sanctioned by the IIHF.

since i'm pretty sure the only reason gonchar is still playing is to try to take a shot at sochi, i dont think he'd jeapordize that. Wouldnt be surprised to see him go back to russia for 2013-14 though.

From the way you phrased, it seems like your saying no other Latvians have played in the NHL. May i remind you about...

Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins are playing in Oklahoma City, rumor around the arena is that Hall might be joining him. That line makes them early favorites at Calder Cup...

Simply put

Do you guys know that Vladislav Tretiak never played in the NHL?

Also, Valeri Kharlamov, Boris Mikhailov, Anatoly Firsov, Alexander Maltsev, Valery Vasiliev, Vsevolod Bobrov never played in the NHL

Just for the Sens, Vitaly Atyushov, Alexei Kaigorodov (only 6 NHL games), Kirill Lyamin and Igor Mirnov never "made it"

Does that mean that they suck or that they're automatically not as good as other russians who played in the NHL????

That's a very simplistic view, so many factors to consider, need to think deeper

Ya just like in the NHL

It's a team game. Yes some teams have improved with young NHL stars coming up, but it's still a team game. And the lockout probably won't last too long. Players would be dumb to do so...

There were/are a lot other best (even in world) latvians, who played in NHL:
starting with Helmut Balderis - were one of the best in SU and later played for Minnesota North Stars in 1989-1990.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmuts_Balderis
Arturs Irbe - goalkeeper
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art%C5%ABrs_Irbe
Kāris Skrastiņš - named Ironmen in NHL
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C4%81...ti%C5%86%C5%A1
Sandis Ozolins
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandis_Ozolins
this isnt a full list, but only top guys who played in NHL

Until RNH and Hall get injured and then it will be up to Eberle to carry the team.

I think it's more of a "I'd rather the NHL was playing" Then a slight to Bingo...

OKC made the WCF Finals last year, without RNH, Eberle, or Hall. They're a good team adding some really talented players - they should easily be a contender.
