I think Getzlaf will re-sign and Perry will take off. I'd love for him to sign in Toronto obviously but no one really knows where he will go and players like him don't grow on trees so he will garner a lot of interest across the league.

It's more about ensuring that false claims of him 'lying' don't end up becoming an HF hallmark when discussing Schultz. You can say whatever you want about him screwing over the Ducks, being a dink about the whole thing, etc, because people are entitled to their opinions about the situation, but calling him a liar or accusing him of things that have no basis is where I draw the line.
In the end Schultz played by the rules set out by the CBA, as did Philly when they sheeted Weber and as did Edmonton sheeting Penner/Vanek and many other prospects that left their respective draft teams.
They have basis, they are infact, facts.
He told them he was coming, then when it came time, he went into hiding making up one excuse after another. It truly amazes me how you want to manipulate facts, you must be a lawyer!
One thing is for sure, if these guys do hit UFA, pretty much every team in the league is going to put an offer in on it.
Getzlaf might be the one person that Burke is willing to float out one of those ludicrous long term contracts for (assuming they are even allowed in the new CBA)
What would it take to get Perry at the deadline if he doesn't want to re-sign?
If it's obvious he doesn't want to re-sign, something like what Kovalchuk was traded for? Roster player, couple of decent prospects and a 1st or 2nd? This of course from a Cup contending team.
The offers from other teams will be too great to pass up. If the Ducks are within striking distance of the playoffs, they won't deal either player. Ducks will end up with nothing.

Well, it would be under the assumption the Ducks aren't holding a playoff spot, and would want to get something for him instead of letting him walk. What kind of prospects/players would they want, keeping in mind that a cup-contender can't really afford to give up main roster pieces?

He could be dealt midseason if he wanted to walk. Palmieri looked alright when he was flanking Getzlaf. Obviously, we'd want to avoid it coming to that, since the best we could hope to get is what Kovalchuk got.

Something along the lines of Schroeder(our best C prospect and your eventual 2C), Connauton(our best D prospect) and a 1st? They may not be blue chip prospects, but they each have top-4/top-6 potential, and 2013 is a strong draft. If we managed to get another team's first from a Luongo trade, we could use that one instead of ours as well. I'm not familiar with Anaheim's prospect depth, but does a playmaking 2-way centre and an offensive dman sound right in terms of prospects that interest you?

We have to have a midseason for me to know what we'd need at that point.
I feel like Anaheim will sign them both actually. If they do lose Getz and Perry they would become one of the 3 bottom teams in the league, also due to losing Selanne and Koivu too.
Now if they make it to free agency and start looking around, of course Toronto is going to go hard after Getzlaf. They are desperate for a first line center, and Burke would offer him a large contract. Perry is a wild card, I hope the Flyers would take a run at him. All he does is produce, and would look amazing on Giroux's wing for 5-7 years. The Flyers are looking for that forward also, they tried hard for Parise. Pittsburgh would scare the hell out of me if they try to get Perry, him playing along side of a healthy Crosby will make Flyers fans cringe for years.

I'm not saying it looks likely that he'll be back, but I wouldn't say it's obvious he doesn't want to re-sign.
edit: didn't sorry "if" sorry

Reading this comments I come to the realisation that this could become a veeeeeery long lockout for the Ducks fans on HFBoards.
Why? Because everybody assumes that Getzlaf and Perry will sign with their favorite team with no logical base other than ZOMG my team is the shizz yo! how can G/P NOT come out here? Oh wait...yeah...I see your point now.
I think Getzlaf re signs in Anaheim. Perry will sign with either Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. He's not a high-profile guy and he won't have to be with Sid,Geno,Neal,Letang,MAF and Our GREAT D-Prospects.
