yes, he won the Calder.

Stanley Cup or any award is one stipulation.

150 games over the past 3 seasons is not very exclusive. Patrick Kaleta even meets that standard, despite his injury history.

That would probably be a blast.

Rumor has it that Vanek will sign with the Graz 99ers of the EBEL.
Not surprising since that's one of the places where he grew up, with the other being Salzburg.
I thought Red Bull would go after him since they want star players, but they're already going after better guys like Tavares.

BTW OP, Porter and Tarnasky already cleared waivers on Saturday.

I don't see the 99ers having the cash to pay for Vaneks insurance. Would probably need an exclusive sponsor for this to happen.

He can play in any of the Euro leagues except the KHL (doesn't meet the criteria) and the SEL (the top Sweden league mandates he play there the entire year if he signs there).

saw a small piece in a low-quality austrian newspaper linking vanek with the vienna capitals. they should have the money for insuring him (and i would love him playing here!).

but I rather think thomas goes to Graz 99ers (as someone already wrote), didn't he write this in his book somewhere?

also, tavares to redbull salzburg?? hu?

It can go either way, it all depends on what they write into the new CBA.

Ehrhoff is expected to play on Friday for Krefeld:
Quote:
Ehrhoff reached the agreement with Krefeld on Tuesday, the team announced on its website. The deal was reached after the German Ice Hockey League team agreed to pay about $26,000 a month to insure the player in the event of injury.

Ehrhoff travelled home shortly after the lockout began last weekend. Hes scheduled to play his first game with Krefeld on Friday.

Hey guys, sorry to intrude, but just wanted to say if you want to watch Ehrhoff play on friday there is a free legal stream of the game online. Commentary is in German, but for those that don't understand, hockey is still hockey right?

Game is 19:25 CET, or 13:25 ET

-Sharks fan who still misses Ehrhoff

"I really wanted to come to Krefeld because I was here during the summer and I felt at home," Ehrhoff said in German and translated into English. "The club is in my heart."

The player's agent, Richard Curran, said his client elected to play in Germany as an opportunity to stay in shape. Ehrhoff isn't under contract with Krefeld, and will be eligible to return to play for the Sabres once the labour dispute is resolved.

If the prevailing theory is that players opting to play in Europe or elsewhere will be steps ahead of those that sit and wait out the lockout, it's a good thing to see Ehrhoff take steps to make sure he has a better year than last season. The Sabres could use a lot more offense from him - especially if they don't trade for scoring help.

Andrew Peters was on hockey hotline a couple weeks ago talking about his decision to play in Sweden during the last lockout. He said he wanted to go somewhere where he wouldn't have to fight, could get healthy and work on his game. I can think of a few Sabres that should take that approach.

Work on his "game" in Sweden? He should've stayed there.

Great.

Just....great.
