Of the CIS teams that go to the US - they play a two game weekend. Most teams lose both of their games. The odd team splits their weekend and on rare occasions a top team wins both games.

2011/12 (USCHO scoreboard - pre-season)

CIS vs NCAA Exh - approx. (36 games) = 6-26-4.

16% winning percentage / 22% points percentage

Two(2) of the wins were from SFX over Northeastern and BU.

2010/11

CIS vs NCAA Exh - approx. (40 games) =8-31-1.

20% winning percentage / 21% points percentage

Three(3) of the wins were from UNB over UMASS, UVM & RPI

Overall

14-57-5 = 18.5% Winning Percentage

So, 1 in 5 or 2 out of 10 go the CIS way (on average).

Observations
Top CIS programs (UNB, McGill, SFX, UWO, USASK,UA) have a little bit more success compared to the rest of the CIS. The AUS Schools (UNB, SFX, ACD, etc) have a bigger challenge than most as their closest competition is Hockey East (UMaine, UNH, BU, BC) which are top teams compared to Niagara, Robert Morris, Michigan,St. Lawrence) which some of the Ontario schools play.

The Western schools have a travel challenge. Some will go down to Minnesota or to the Denver area to play WCHA teams. It's not as easy for them to play compared to Ontario schools which can play teams in the ECAC, Atlantic Hockey or Hockey East easily by bus.

August 19th - CW games look final

There have not been a lot of new announcements on scheduling but I have added what there is. There are still a lot of teams with no pre-season games uploaded to their schedule page, and even a few who still have only 2011-12 schedules posted. It seems there are still some "loose ends" to be tied up on scheduling, and once one domino falls, others should follow.

I was hoping to see more inter-conference games announced but that is not happening. In fact, there are no games at all between Canada West and the OUA or the AUS.

{schedule replaced}

Anyone know how to follow the UNB/Moncton game tomorrow night? I don't think the UNB Hockey twitter will be giving updates.

RMC lost 5-1 to McGill and 9-0 to Queen's. Catch here is that our top 2 lines were in the stands for both games (injuries, academics and problems getting into the reserve) and we had a lot of walk on's and what should be 3rd and 4th lines playing 25 minutes on the top lines.

McGill- Expect a smash mouth McGill team. There is no Dorion, Verrault-Paul, Picard-Hooper, Vossen and Wright for the fancy one timers and pretty passing. They come at you physically. Like the PP, they usually set up high and slide it to the one timer side of the 1-3-1, they force the puck low and jam it in or shoot when there is a screen. When I put the highlight video up, you will see how they scored.

Queen's-Queen's is a young team. Losing Jon Lawrence, David Chubb, Scott Kenway, Payton Liske, Ben Munroe and Brendan Bureau dosent help. But their rookies are good, they play with good pace and are physcial. Don't want to say we were intimidated, but a lot of our younger, inexperienced players heard footsteps and were giving it away, partly due to exhaustion of playing with 10 forwards 2 nights in a row.

I'll have video up monday

1-0 for Moncton after the 1st period. Shots 12-8 for Moncton. Messy hockey but to be expected for first game of the season. Fullerton started in nets for UNB along with MacNeil, Fillier, MacDougall, Desnoyers and Shutron up front. Pridham, Swan and Denny not dressed. Lynes and Salituro playing. Todd playing D. Will post another update after 2nd.

2-1 for Moncton after 2 periods of play. UNB scored early in the period to tie it but Moncton scored late on the PP to take the lead. UNB carried the majority of the play for the period. Both teams changed goalies at the half-way point. More to follow.

Nice to see Shutron on the Starting Defensive Pair, hoping for a big comeback year from him. MacDougall on the starting line get used to it, will likely log the most minutes at centre, nothing like a Start of Game energy line by a guy that skates no better than Bambi.

Lynes??? I thought he was done with Concusion issues

Ugly game tonight for UNB. Moncton definitely had more jump and IMO deserved the win. I'm not sure why Swan and Pridham were in the stands and I didn't even see Denny. Wright was probably their best D-man tonight (even though he took a couple of penalties) and Todd looked comfortable on defence as well. I thought all of the new guys played well and both Culligan and Carroll look to have picked up where they left off last season.
