More lockout signings :

Apparently Zdeno Chara and Marian Hossa are going to sign with Slovan Bratislava of the KHL. (The Slovak KHL team)

Rumor has it that Stamkos might sign in Lausanne.

Jiri Tlusty has been officially announced as a lockout signing for HC Rytiri Kladno.

Lubomir Visnovsky (NYI) just signed with Slovan Bratislava / KHL for a month, starting on Saturday

Mark Streit just signed with SC Bern. Damien Brunner (Red Wings) signed with Zug.

Yannick Weber will be joining Streit soon and Raphael Diaz is expected to be back with EV Zug

Raycroft signed in Milan

Backes to Langnau (Switzerland)

Hemsky to HC Pardubice.

Logan Couture signed with Geneve-Servette according to Fourth Period Twitter.

Thornton and Nash back to HC Davos

Voracek to Lev Praha (KHL) confirmed.

I have a feeling the NHL will not recover as quickly this time. Yeah, the fans will come back, but the momentum gained since the last lockout will be lost.

Unlike the MLB, NFL and NBA.. hockey is a legit world sport. One of the hardest sells the NHL has with the "casual" fan is that the sport is dominated by Canadians and Europeans. The mass exodus to Europe could turn off a lot of these fans... especially the pro-american types (you know what I mean).

Yeah, I hate this, but a part of me is really excited to learn more about/begin watching European leagues. I've been reading up on the KHL and the format sounds really interesting, a lot like Euro soccer leagues. Unfortunately, I feel like a lot of the North American players will avoid the KHL and go to the Swiss League, judging by the actions of Rick Nash and Logan Couture.

Apparently Kladno had not enough money for Voracek's insurance (very surprising to me)

What sort of rumors?

I saw the piece above--suggesting that he wasn't sure he was going to go anywhere. I remember that he had a standing invite from Jagr (would be nice to see him play with Jake, if that's the case).

Giroux, Briere, Bergeron and other French-Canadian players trying to form two Quebec leagues that will play throughout Canada for charity:

This would be amazing, a much better alternative than taking jobs from European players. I really hope they pull it off.

It seems they hate each other very much and get along nicely.

Anyone hear about this?

Quote:
Bryan Hayes ‏@HayesTSN Just saw that members of Philly's brass bailed on Hartnell's charity golf tourney. Claim that the NHL told them they couldn't go. Pathetic.

I'm not home but there is an article by Randy J Miller about the tourney. Hartnell is pretty pissed, especially since he has been doing charity stuff for Snider all summer, including last week.

Of course, the business-man's excuse of "well there wasn't a lockout last week."
