Time Warner Sportsnet televises some of them. That would be the most likely station, though MSG could be a possibility to allow those who don't have TWC to tune in.

Does anyone know when Amerks training camp opens?

Oh, and if this is a full-season lockout--and I don't think it will be--just give the Calder Cup to OKC right now. Jimminy Christmas.

The 28th I believe. And yeah, OKC is going to be ridiculous.

Now that we know the whole lineup, this is my guess at what the opening night lines will look like:

Foligno - Hodgson - Tropp
Adam - Porter - Mancari
Girgensons - Varone - Rankin
Tarnasky - Schofield - Legault

McNabb - Pysyk
Brennan - Finley
Biega - Gauthier-Leduc

Leggio
Knapp

Looks about right. At least initially, I think they'll keep the Hodgson-Tropp pair together, and reunite Adam and Mancari to hopefully get Luke going early. I do think they'll try to integrate Sundher, though, even in a fourth line role, given that he's their only rising prospect.

Defensively, there's going to be a ton of competition. A healthy Schiestel playing like he was for Texas could probably break the top-6. I'd imagine they haven't given up on MacKenzie yet, either, as he was a versatile player for them before his serious injury last season. And Crawford is in the mix, as well. I think there's going to be a short leash on a chunk of those guys; if they have a rough game, they may be in the press box the next night.

For anyone who cares, the Amerks' website has the new players and their numbers on the team's roster page. Notables (newbies and/or changes):

12 Kevin Porter
13 Mark Pysyk
19 Cody Hodgson
28 Zemgus Girgensons
31 Nathan Lieuwen
34 Jerome Gauthier-Leduc
35 Connor Knapp
74 Nick Tarnasky
92 Kevin Sundher

Mancari not yet listed on the roster. Given that #25 is still available, that'd be my guess.

Amerks Season Preview
http://wgr550.com/Rochester-Amerks-P...-Town/14262379

Shawn Szydlowski mentioned as unexpected breakout player.

Quote:
Keep an eye on forward Shawn Szydlowski. He played in 53 games last season and didn't score a single goal, but he scored 41 goals with the Erie Otters in 2010-11 and has all the tools to be an effective scorer. Last season, he would have been better served playing the entire year in the ECHL because with the Amerks, he was mostly a fourth-line player receiving less than 10 minutes per game. This year, if he has a strong camp, he could get to a third-line role and prove himself from there. And if the NHL resumes play and Hodgson and Foligno move up, it's easy to see him getting time on even higher lines if he produces.

Maybe the tips are for how to be a bodyguard for your smaller teammates?

Hopefully it's a lot of "do as I say not as I do" type of advice.

The talk was He would have been called up To Dallas if he was their property, he is done in Rocherster. Also Crawford will be in the line up before the new guys.

kind of crazy since only 2 are invites. The rest either get a place in Rochester or are loaned out/sent down to the ECHL.

Other teams have invited a bunch of guys (some teams probably ten or more).

A lot of them are Coast tweeners and Federal Leaguers, but still.

Nice to see them extend an invite to Wise -- kid can scrap and has enough hand skill to not be a complete waste of space, knows how to play a physical game. I doubt he gets a deal, but he works damned hard.

I was just going to ask yesterday if he had gotten an invite after getting him on NHL 13 in HUT.
His chances would certainly increase if they actually had an ECHL affiliate..

Anyone going to the session at the FNC on Friday?
I want to but not sure if I can yet.

I am likely going, but I'll be on the phone for a chunk of it. I'm not sure what the hell they're going to do without a second affiliate -- they have so many players now, it's nuts compared to years passed.

Maybe they're still looking for one or will just independently loan guys out.
I'm not familiar with how players were handled in Gwinnett, but maybe they were unhappy with their role and such.
I could see them just rotating some of the more useful forwards and finding places for the rest.

I'm concerned about how clogged the defense has become though.
For whatever reason, I got the thought in my head yesterday that maybe they send JGL back to the Q.
He doesn't have anything left to prove there really, but it might be better than the Coast or not playing.

It's nice to see Madolora back in town too after he went back to California as an invite for San Jose's prospect camp.

To be honest, I'm not sure he has a high level pro career ahead of him (ie AHL or NHL), but he's better than DeMichael who foudn his way into the AHL for a few games.

The #Sabres ( and #Amerks) will not have sole ECHL affiliate, coach Ron Rolston says. A 2 here, 3 there, mixture. They had been in Gwinnett.
