I say late October. We barely miss any time.

Guessing November 1st or so. Long enough that everyone is annoyed.

December 21st, 2012.

They'll wrap up negotiations just before Christmas, thereby saving the Winter Classic and having something to celebrate with over the Christmas holidays.

So will the announcement be post or pre-apocalypse.

Maybe things will start to occur after Bettman says "We've reached an agreement".

I'm hoping that once October is here and scheduled games are being missed that both sides will start to get their acts together and start to compromise. If no progress is made by December or even November, however, I'll be surprised if any NHL hockey is played this season.

When the league replaces Bettman with a Canadian hockey mind instead of an American lawyer. No offense to Americans, but you have other major sports leagues to enjoy. Canadians don't have that option... CFL has 8 teams...

Seriously, get someone running the league who has been a player before, and can truely understand where they are coming from. That would probably help stop these f***ing lockouts >.<

I have a question for all those in the know:

After the new CBA is signed, are all exibition games cancelled and we go with a shortened training camp? Do we plunge into the season headfirst? What is the protocol here

You've seen how most players handle their financial portfolios, right?

I don't know why the NHL is so insistent on hiring former players for jobs they aren't trained for, but I don't think putting a player in charge is necessarily the right step in solving the problem.

Now, a smart sports business man or lawyer who actually knows hockey could be beneficial.

So... a former player agent, or Ken Dryden, or we wait for George Parros to retire?

It could by all means be a player, but at least make sure they have relevant experience and education.

The last thing the NHL needs is ANOTHER player taking position in the front office without any education or experience on how to be a Sports Businessperson. It's quite different from being a player.

If Alfie told you that, then shouldn't it be November 11? (11/11)
