Where Pens players play during lockout?

We dont know how long this lockout last, but we know that players want ice- time. Is it US or Europe?

Here in Finland we have wild speculations, but maybe the wildest is rumour about your #87

If the lockout is long, is there possibility that your starboy would play in Finland couple games.
And rumour is that team could be Ässät? Cause we have here Stephen Dixon (our starplayer and Sidneys friend). I know that insuracy policy is big issue, but what you guys think?

And talk avout other your players too.

(Im from Finland, so if text is hard to read, i know)

I read that Sidney Crosby is likely to join up with Nash in Davos.

Per Dmitry Chesnokov as of 10 hours ago -

Quote:
"Last night we spoke with [Toronto Maple Leafs forward] Nikolai Kulemin's agent. I hope that in the coming days we will see the forward in Magnitogorsk. Nikolai is in Toronto right now, but if everything comes together, he will leave for Russia on the next flight."
Quote:
This means that the last vacancy for an NHL player will be taken by Kulemin. You haven't even considered foreign born players?
VELICHKIN: "We were offered different options. But we are targeting Nikolai. If the number of NHL players in each team was not limited, we would think about foreign born players. But we don't have a choice here.

"We received calls from Crosby's representatives. They asked us about a hypothetical possibility of signing a contract with Metallurg. We said 'Why not?' But we never made it to the point of negotiations.

If Kulemin signs with Geno's team, they'll be at their 3 NHL player maximum.

I would love to see Crosby play in another professional league just to see what kind of numbers a prime Sid would put up against the defenses in other (sometimes lower-level) professional leagues.

Example, what would Crosby do to a KHL team? AHL team? Elitserien? SM-Liiga? ECHL?

not gonna lie, I am excited to see RNH and Eberle in the AHL. Sid could take that to a whole other level of ridiculous.

Well, while I hope that Elitserien stand by their decision to not allow short term contracts for locked out players, I wouldn't mind seeing Crosby and Letang here in Linköping.

My guess would be Swiss League as well for Sid.
Money isn't an issue for him, obviously.

ETA: or Russia...
"Geno would like to have him there for sure, just like everyone else from every other country would," Brisson said. "Russia is a rich country with wealthy individuals. Russia is a possibility, but we are not negotiating a contract right now."

Full Brisson interview: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nhl/s...-on/57794288/1
...
Heres a tidbit about what Geno will be paying:

For so many of these high-end players, insurance is such a factor. For KHL-bound Evgeni Malkin, for example, a source told ESPN.com that he’ll need to pay about $250,000 per year for two years’ worth of coverage on his $9 million salary, although it’s believed the premiums will be paid monthly and can be cancelled without penalty once the NHL lockout is over.

Still, it’s a huge chunk of change and that’s why NHL stars will tread carefully before heading over. Remember, as I wrote in Friday’s blog about the rules of the lockout, an NHL team has the right to suspend a player without pay once the NHL season resumes until he’s fit to play if he injures himself while playing in another league during the lockout.

It would be kind of humorous to watch Sid put up 200 pts or something like that. He'll go to whichever league has the least number of goons and bums (i.e. the softest league) IMO.

He should go to the Asia League then. Would easily put up 400.

I meant an actual men's professional hockey league. With six months of workouts and power skating to get my brain wired for hockey again, I could play in the freaking Asian league.

"And now, for HC Karachi... V for Vitale."

I'd wear a Guy Fawkes mask and put a handsome and authoritative illustration of Muhammed on my stick just to show them you can't mess with friends of Joe.

But seriously, whoever said Davos earlier, I bet that's right. Thornton and Nash have already agreed. Seems like the right kind of league for Sid. Not a physical league, some good skill, far better location than Russia. Would be a good experience for him. Can hook up with some Swiss ski babes on weekends.

I'm really bummed they aren't playing Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at all. I'd love to be able to see them. Fortunately some other teams should be pretty well stocked, at least. Really looking forward to the season opener against Bridgeport.

actually i was going the other direction. TDL acquisitions. but at this point either scenario is equally likely.

I think it'd be cool if some NHL players went to play in the ALIH(Asia League Ice Hockey) for a couple of games or something. A lot of them don't need money, so playing is really just stay in shape and busy and it would be huge for hockey in Asia.

i mean how cool would it be for some 10 year old Japanese kid to go to some Oji Eagles games and see like Devin Setoguchi put up 250+ points?

Yes, but the competition level would probably be comparable to Blade Runners in Bethel Park. What about Sweden?

Seems like if you sign in Sweden, you have to play there the whole season. Berglund sigend, that sucks for the Blues.

Ha and Spezza just sigend in Switzerland (after Thornton, Nash, Couture, Streit, Josi, Weber, Brunner and Diaz), but with a crap team. It's the team Gilmour played on back then, wtf.
