Just letting you know what goes on across the league. Don't be foolish enough to think that Owners won't try and pad their lockout war chest with fans hard earned money. Hopefully it won't come to that for the Rangers fans.

I don't see how they can do that. Ranger season ticket holders only paid for 41 games. Because of the rennovations there were no pre-season games scheduled and I doubt they will change that regardless of when the season actually starts. Plus, I really doubt that they will play any pre-season games, if the season starts late--it would really tick fans off and make it that much more difficult for teams to find dates for the real games.

Does anyone remember if there were any pre-season games after the lockout in 1994?

Well if the season starts later than when MSG is ready that means they will have lost at the very least 8 games for argument sake. To even out the home and road games that means a loss of 4 home games so you're down to 37 and you have excess money which can be used towards preseason games. I see them playing two exhibition games in a shortened camp whenever they come back. One at home and one on the road.

I will be really ticked off if this happens. We shouldn't stand for this. They sold us 41 regular season games they have no right to add pre-season games at the last minute. Maybe my decision to keep my season tix was made because I didnt have to pay for pre-season games. A 24% increase in ticket prices is bad enough and it certainly makes up for the lost revenue from missing pre-season games. Adding these on, at full price, after a lockout might make me a former STH.

For the people who got the payment freeze today until they reach an agreement, did she say if you would be put back on the monthly payment plan, or would you be charged one payment of whatever is left on your balance when/if games begin?

i havent had mine frozen yet but i talked to MSG 3 times today and i think it works like this

if the cba is signed say December 5 you would owe September, Oct,and Nov. Payments all at once then continue the payment plan as you would normally but they would also deduct games not played/cancelled

They can try, but it will piss off the very fans who pay the largest share of revenue collected by the NHL (not to mention that TV sponsors will be really happy to pay top dollar for an ad during a pre-season game that was supposed to run during the season). And I really doubt, given the need to play as many regular season games as possible, that there will be any pre-season games, unless the two sides come to an agreement very quickly. After all, most venues where NHL hockey is played have other teams and events taking up available dates. There are only so many games a place like MSG can squeeze into its schedule on short notice.

I also asked my rep today what's the plan... I hope they have some policy in place, or at least are working on it, and will let us know soon!

So far I've paid 2/6 of the payments and asked my rep to cancel any future payments for now. If this means being charged multiple payments at once if the season actually starts, then so be it.

Here is the reply from my rep (Jeff):

"Concerning the lockout, we will continue the payment plan until we officially start missing games. Therefore you will need to pay this month but not next month IF they have not started the season yet. You will be refunded in full for every game not played."

Had a voice mail from Gretchen that an email will go out to all ticket holders either tonight or tomorrow saying no September payments will be charged.

Good, I talked with my rep yesterday and that news was hinted at, but since the decision was not final, she couldn't confirm it yet. Glad to see the Garden isn't getting greedy with its most loyal customers (if the news is true).

Great, my rep also hinted at this when I spoke with him this week. Looking forward to not paying any more for the canceled season.

Did anyone get such an email? The recurring payment usually hits right about today (the 27th)

I paid in full back in like April or May, so Ill be super pissed if about 10 home games are cancelled, and they think because I paid for 41 games in full, they can use my credit for lets say 31 home games and 2 pre season and credit me the remaining 8 games. The deal is I paid for 41 regular season home games, its on the invoice. Sounds like a lawsuit.

Great, no email and I see the pending charge for September on my AMEX account.

I apologize to everyone here when I said we were getting an Email that no September payments were going to be charged. I didn't realize I was going to be flat out lied to by Gretchen, but this is MSG so I should have known.

I might be one of the few people that's not upset about the payments still going on. I plan on using it as credit for the future anyway, and 2% interest is better than what a bank would get me...
