Just a question. Does anyone think that participation in the Home Run Derby messed up Trumbo's in game timing?

No. He was the hottest he had been all season the couple weeks after the HR Derby. I think the word got out on him, and the scouts killed him. He can't hit a breaking ball worth a damn, and he always swings at outside breaking balls.

This has been my theory for a lot of guys in the derby. Not all but some have never been the same type of hitter after participating.

They're killing the Rangers tonight. Weaver was great, and the offense backed him up. Too bad they couldn't do this a couple more times earlier this season.

Who knows. Maybe the word is out on him. He does seem to hack at a lot of fastballs.

I have been saying since the beginning of the year that that is the way to get him out. The tendency is to throw rookies breaking stuff, but trout kills the breaking stuff because of his quick bat and ability to use the opposite field. To get Trout out you gotta bust him hard inside.

No hits last night, but got two walks, two runs and a steal. Not a bad result for not hitting.

Was a good series. Darvish/Greinke was an amazing game last night. Hate to see the Angels on the brink instead of the A's. Hopefully the Yankees will take care of the A's while my guys work on the M's.

Trout's OBP is still pretty good when he isn't hitting. The problem now, though is that he's trying to get walks it seems. There's being patient at the plate and there's being too patient at the plate, and right now Trout is straddling that line. Of course Hunter has been great at "reeling" Trout in. (I made a funny.)

2.5 games back again. They just need to get hot right now and keep that way for another week. I think they can do it. Hopefully Seattle doesn't show up for the season at the last minute, and Texas keeps playing .500 ball. Of course after Texas kicks the A's... A's. But more importantly, the Angels need to win.

I know I am nitpicking, but Trout just chased an awful pitch with no outs and a 3-2 count that led to Ianetta being thrown out at 2nd...right after the Downs just gave up 3 runs. The kid has to be better in that situation. He may have just been trying to do too much, because he rarely chases pitches THAT far out of the strike zone.

Izturis with some awful situational hitting, and the Angels get no insurance runs...lets go Frieri!

20 K's tonight for the Angels is a team record. Ryan threw 19 K's for the former record. Man, he was awesome.

Anyway. Angels keep 2 games back. Hopefully if Texas blows it against the A's, that will carry over to the series with the Angels.

If they finish 7-0 they've got a 9.7% chance of making it to the post-season.

Looking back, we really, really needed to get a split in the 4 game series against Oakland a couple weeks ago, but too bad that didn't happen.

There's still a chance, but I don't think it's going to happen. I'm looking forward to 2013, as I think it will be a great year. We'll almost certainly have a better bullpen, a full year of Trout (and maybe Greinke), and maybe some of the guys who struggled this year (DH/CJW/ES, Trumbo, Wells, Bourjos, etc.) will have better years next year if they're still on the team.

And there's no chance Pujols has another terrible start, so I think we might have a bit better April.

And yet I still disagree. I'm sick of pessimism. A chance is a chance.

Disagree with what? I said I think there's a chance too, but the people who say there really isnt aren't pessismists, but realists.

Sorry, you posted just before me. I was talking about Sirquacksalot's comments.

All season, I've been doom and gloom, except for a few parts of the season. And I've noticed it a lot around other online Angels' fans, and I just can't stand it anymore. I don't want to be like that.

Anyway. Disappointing loss today, but hopefully the last. It's very possible to go 6-0.

There were many chances for the Angels to make up. Both Pujols and Greinke took some time to adjust to southern cal. We came out of the All-Star break with a somewhat dud except for Trumbo. Then he became a dud.

The Angels have a chance. They're within striking distance, but need to win out. It would seem highly improbable to go 15 straight wins, but with the loss today hopefully the Angels recharge. It would seem inevitable to lose one of the last seven games.

The A's have Seattle and Texas. The O's have Boston and Tampa Bay. All the Angels can do is win out and see where the dust settles.

As for next season, the Angels definitely need help in the bullpen due to how many blown saves this year. As of today, the Angels lead the AL in blown saves with 22. Frieri was on fire before All-Star break. Not so much after. Hawkins, Williams, Isringhausen, Richards, Walden, Downs, and Jepsen have all been inconsistent. Last year we had 25 blown saves all year. So we need a huge improvement in that area. FA is all we have because our pitching prospects are somewhat depleted. Trumbo or Wells need to be gone. Greinke needs to be re-signed. Keep Irvin, buh bye Haren. (But better to keep both considering what may not be available in FA.) Torii needs to be re-signed, albeit at a much better rate for the Angels.

It will be interesting indeed to see what happens during the off-season, but I hope we keep that idea for after we win the World Series this year.

This team is still going to probably get 90 to 92 wins. When you realize that this team started out with a 8-23 record, that's pretty damn good.

They never went 8-23. They were 18-23 though.
