I'm assuming that the teams he's playing against aren't full of NHL-type caliber players or great ones for that matter. I think he's going to be a one-man army out there.

I guess this one good side to being so heavily North American.

We won't have many (if any) more guys go over and play in Europe.

Just to be clear, Kopitar didn't sign with anybody in Europe yet.

As long as all of our players have out clauses in their contracts I want every single one to be on a team playing hockey.

Look at Modano, Roenick, Yzerman, Guerin and all the guys who couldn't cut it after sitting out the whole year.

Mora is looking for sponsors to cough up the 200 000 Skr per month (approx 30000 $)

read the numbers somewhere but it sounds a bit to much to be accurate.

The fans have gathered a neet 37000 Skr sofar ( 5614$)

That's just the money they have to pay for insurance. The cost of a players insurance is (as I understand it) related to how much money his NHL contract pays him and since Kopitar gets paid a lot it's gonna be expensive to insure him. I doubt he makes much actual money himself.

Pretty cool that the fans themselves have a fundraiser. Some players have even offered to take a paycut if it helps bring Kopitar in.

Ohh! That will be a sight to remember.

I don't think they (Mora) will put any efforts on selling his jersey for the time he will be with them and I don't think they are allowed to do that. NHL rules. I'm guessing.

I'm surprised they got it done. That is a pretty big bill for one player. On the other hand I'm stocked because he will be here in Sweden and play.

Some of the Mora players have voluntarily cut their wages in order to get Kopitar signed. They seem to be pretty excited getting to play with a bona fide superstar.

Saturday against Djurgarden(sadly they don't have any NHLers signed, yet). The game is available as internet PPV but I couldn't tell you if that works outside of Sweden or if there will be other free streams available.

That's also cool, these guys can't be making much playing in the second tier Swedish league in the first place.

I heard that Kopis pay of TWO [2] grand per month will make him the highest paid player on the team. I was flabbergasted!

They don't make much. I think most players have a full time (or at least part time) job as well. Don't know for sure, but average salary is probably around $1500-1800/month.

This is a long shot, but I'm driving up from Stockholm to Mora to watch Kopi play his first game on Saturday. Are there any other Kings fans interested in joining? Always nice to split the fuel cost.

(I'm guessing 'long shot' in this case is the understatement of the year.)

The fan support in Mora is impressing. They have sofar gathered 10730$ and the insurance cost for Anze is 35725$ per month but the sponsors are covering most of that.

Here is the pressconf where Anze answers in English.
