Should have kept Sieben and gotten rid of Corbett. Corbett is terrible.
Going to the game on Thursday. I've never been to a season opener in any league before. Anything I should expect?
Just a championship banner raising!
It'll be great to see some new Oil Kings banners at Rexall.
Oh, and Corbett had a few tough times last year, but I think he learned from them and will be better this year. That Mayo kid is pretty good and will push guys like Corbett and Geertsen for ice time.

What does Sieben have to do with Corbett? Sieben probably has two seasons left in this league and younger guys could have 4 or 5, obviously if they can play at a simliar level they are more valuable assets going forward. You can't have your entire forward corps be vets because by the time the '93's and '92's leave next year the team is going to have 10 wins. Getting guys like Benson, Pollock, Baddock and Bertolucci ice time is important if you don't want to be going for first overall the year after you make your big run.

I also mentioned either in this or another thread that Corbett and Sautner played a season last year easily double the length and double the intensity than they had the year before or any year previous to that. Jumping from Minnesota high school and Midget AAA respectively is obviously going to be a big jump and they were clearly fatigued and not keeping up with the play and decision-making by the time playoffs rolled around. I expect them to settle and be valuable contributors this year.

Definitely excited for the banner raising. I was at Game 7 against the Winterhawks, so that makes it even more exciting.
Is the upper bowl being used for the first game? I think it will be a full house
Doubt it, games in the finals weren't even sell outs. Actually I'm surprised at the lack of buzz around town about the Oil Kings. Other than a couple fans, None of my friends even know the season is starting soon.

There really needs to be more media coverage for the Oil Kings. Other than the odd small article in the Sun or Journal and the odd Stauffer or Tencer interview with Bob Green, there isn't much discussion around town.
I like what they've done with this team. The OKs are one of the early favourites to win it all. They have a lot of returning vets but have added some kids to the lineup as well. Maybe that will make the inevitable rebuild that is required in junior hockey easier.
Do we have to get into our seats early tonight for the banner unveiling?
Does everyone get a replica banner or do we have to be there early for a limited number available?

Player intros will begin at 6:50. First 7,500 fans get a banner.
